UPDATE NOTE: PROBLEM SOLVED. Thanks a million for everyone's helpful suggestions. Shenita at Embellishments by SLR was able to help me with changing my settings in Internet Explorer to allow all cookies. Yay!!! I'm now able to access other things that my sister set up on my blog that weren't showing up either. Today is a good day!
Now on to the fun stuff! I have made a few purchases for my home, within the last few weeks, and thought I would share them with you.
I have seen these burlap pillows with french writing on them for a while and finally found one 40% off, so I grabbed it! Most of my furniture is neutral so I love these french style pillows to add interest.
Here is a close-up of the pillow.
I have no idea what it says, but I love it anyway!
At the same shop that I bought that pillow, I found this bread board. It's a reproduction, but I don't care. It was more affordable this way too. I already had the round one, and when I saw this rectangular one, I knew it would complete my collection.
I ended up leaning it against my kitchen cabinets for now.
I went to Home Goods today and I bought a cute cream and sugar bowl set. I didn't need it (of course), but fell in love with it's unique square shape. The price was so low that it would've felt sinful to not buy them. Ha! They were only $3.99/ea. I will just sell my other set at a consignment store.
Here they are next to my coffee maker ready for tomorrow morning!
After leaving Home Goods, I stopped by an antique store near my house. I found an old Dundee marmalade jar (similar to one I have in my sitting room). I've been wanting another one. I love the writing on it.
Did you notice it has a lid on it? I've never seen one with a lid before. I placed it above my stove on a shelf.
I saved the best for last, although, some people may not understand it. I'm sure you're aware that decorating with things found in nature is very popular right now. I've seen shells, driftwood, pinecones, antlers and even turtle shells used in decor. Most people use what they find in their own back yard, but sometimes you come across something that you think is interesting and IS NOT in your back yard. This is one of those things.
Can you tell what it is? It's a hornets nest. Empty of course!!
I found it at the antique store (of all places). I've seen them used in homes before and thought they were so interesting because of their texture. So, I found this one and brought it home to try in my home.
For now, I've placed it on top of some books sitting on my coffee table. I'm sure when my husband gets back home, he's going to shake his head at this latest purchase. Ha!
Here is how it looks overall.
So there you have it. I purchased all of these goodies with money I made at a consignment shop. I'll post about that another day.
~ Kelly ~
I am linking to Savvy Southern Style Wow us Wednesday party.
Love your finds Kelly. I had a couple of hornets nest, in our home, at the farm. They are so intricate and interesting. Yours looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have fun with your shopping and decorating - that's why I like your sister's blog and yours too. You seem to have fun and not take it too seriously. I love your little coffee station - off to spruce mine up!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great, I can't believe the price for the cream and sugar set, what a steal. I am afraid of the hornets nest, hope they were sure it was empty!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, You and Kim must have so much fun shopping together for your beautiful homes. I love all your finds and especially the breadboard!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Yay, you linked to my party!!! You did good.
ReplyDeleteKelly you and Kim must have a blast shopping together! I love all your finds but I would have to say my absolute favorite is that breadboard and I love how it looks leaning up against your cabinets! Martina
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Love that breadboard.
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower!
Oh I've found that when it doesn't let you sign in you need to uncheck the automatic sign in box...thats what I have to do on some blogs. Good luck!
You found some wonderful treasures today....I want to go shopping with you two!!!! Love the new sugar and creamer...so cute!
ReplyDelete~Des
Have you tried switching your browser to Google Chrome? I did that, and it solved the comment problem for good!
ReplyDeleteLove your new finds, but I've got to be honest... that hornet's nest freaks me out ;)
So excited to see you have started a blog! I always enjoyed when Kim featured your home! You have a wonderful talent for decorating. We have an antique dealer friend who collects hornet nests! Very cool find :)
ReplyDeleteWendy
Hello Kelly! Welcome to blog land. Well I guess it's who you know here in blog land. Look at your followers grow! It took me a year to get to 100....hehe.
ReplyDeleteI love your style. I found a Dundee marmalade jar this week too.
I have been looking for one for a while now. I totally understand buying a bee hive, it makes total sense to me. After 2 years I'm still as passionate as I was in the beginning.
Just have fun~SueBee
I love your huge bread board! It looks cool leaning up against your cupboards. And I think your new sugar and creamer are darling. Now I'm really curious about your experiences selling things at consignment stores. Please do post about that!
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow you found, it has great texture to it, who cares what it says...it looks great! The hornets nest would scare me a little in my house lol...but it has a very neat look, I can appreciate that. Love your finds, can't wait to hear more about your consignment sales.
ReplyDeleteRachel :)
What a pair you two make! Do you ever fight over who gets which *find* of the day?? Kelly you made out like a bandit! Love the hornet's nest. Not typical. I like that.
ReplyDeleteOn the commenting thing, I come across some blogs that have that. I have found that if I keep hitting the post button after a few times it will give me the option of entering my info (name/password) and it will finally post. I have NO IDEA why it does that on some and not others. Most annoying! good luck. If you figure it out, pass it on! blessings ~ Tanna
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, I like your coffee station! Beautiful pillow, love it with your chair...
All the Best,
Christine
What terrific finds...the breadboard found a perfect home!!
ReplyDeleteYou Did very well Kelly! My friend would have scooped that hornets nest too, she collects rocks, shells and all kinds of funky stuff. I think you need to download google chrome instead of using internet explorer...that seems to be the problem if I use internet explorer I can't comment.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing how you display items in your home... beautiful! I have to use firefox when I want to leave comments as internet explorer won't let me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finds! I am in love with that pillow.
ReplyDeleteI was having the same problem with comments a couple of weeks ago. Somehow it righted itself. Good Luck!
Your blog and home are wonderful!!

Nice finds Kelly. That nest is such a conversation piece.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly i think your pillow is so cute, and i love your breadboard.Your house is so cozy. I love visiting.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I'm terrified of wasps and hornets and have been known to run into walls trying to escape them. Ha! It is unique and looks great on your table. The new pillow is a beautiful accent to your chair.
ReplyDeleteKelly try unclicking the "sign in" box on blogs you cannot comment on. It let's you leave one then. Not all blogs are like that but the ones I have trouble commenting on it works everytime. I'm not sure who told me about it but it helped me.
Warmly, ~Melissa
The coffee addict that I am loves your coffee station, the square creamer and sugar is very unique, and the marmalade jar a great addition. I'm enjoying your blog very much!

OMGosh Kelly, I haven't seen a hornet's nest in years. I had seen one in a blog some time back and wished I had one, but my husband would think I'm crazy. I love bird's nests and things like that too. Great new finds. Thanks for sharing.
