Antique Sideboard Makeover

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a nice Valentines Day yesterday.  We celebrated a day early since my husband had to work then.  He was good to me and bought me roses, candy and took me out to lunch.  It was fun!  After the kids got home from school, we gave them their treats (including the dog).  Ha!  Now, I really need to walk off all those bad calories from the sweets I've been snacking on.  Yikes!

I managed to do another project with things I already had on hand.  I repainted the sideboard in my dining room.  I wanted a softer color, so I chose the same gray color that I've used on other furniture makeovers.

I am so glad that I made this change!  It gives the room a much softer feel now.

It brings out some of the carving in the wood too.

(That's a shadow, not the paint)

It has very old hardware that I left on it too.

The front legs are twisted, which I love.

Here is the before (a pic from last Fall).

And here is the after.......now!

Paint color:  Sherwin Williams, Fawn Brindle (#7640)
Paste Finishing Wax:  Minwax, Dark

Thanks for stopping by!

  15. This is very beautiful and there was something else that caught my eye. The picture where you can see outside your balcony window. Your home looks cozy on the inside and it looks wintery on the outside. :)

  20. Hi Kelly,

Love the change! I'm going crazy myself with painting everything light. I love your style Kelly. I am having a dilema. I have a red accent wall (that I'm tired of) and a maple fireplace. My walls are gold and I have glass tables and 2 red couches. I want to paint the living room and paint the fireplace but not sure what colors. I love my kitchen. I painted it a sort of lime artichoke color and it looks great with black and white but not sure how to carry the color to the living room. Do you have an email where I could send some pics. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks, Sandy

  24. Kelly, Your sideboard looks sooo good. I like the color. Did you just paint it and then when it was dry..go over it with the finishing wax? No distressing? It's very nice and really lightens the space.
