More Grey in the Foyer

Hello everyone!

During the summer, you may recall that I painted the chest of drawers in my foyer a soft blue.  I loved it at the time, but found that it was locking me too much into that color.  I also didn't have enough blue around the house to make it feel like it belonged there.  I prefer a home that has the same colors flowing throughout and since I've committed to grey and white predominantly, it just felt right to repaint my chest of drawers in a grey color.  I think using blue pillows and accessories is a better way for me to go at the moment if I want to bring in that color.  So...............here it is sporting the same shade of grey that I have on many other pieces of furniture in my home.

I decided to do a light coat of grey so you can still barely see the blue peeking through.  This gives it more of an aged look.

As soon as I painted it, I KNEW it was the right thing to do.  It had been bothering me for a while.  I think it would've been fine if I didn't feel it was competing with the flow of the grey and white in all of my other rooms.

I changed the accessories on top by adding a pitcher of eucalyptus and some lavender sachets.

I found the sachets from another blogger who was selling them.  They smell wonderful and are packaged in some wonderful vintage grey and white ticking material.

So, I'm a happy camper now that I've made that change.  No more trying to work with that blue color that I thought was so wonderful just a few months ago.  See?  Now you know why I have such a neutral home.  I can't commit to certain colors for too long.  I wish I had just painted it this color to begin with now.

Thanks for stopping by!

Duluth Fall Festival 2014

Hello everyone!

This weekend I went to a Fall festival in a nearby town.  It was a lot of fun.  There were lots of homemade crafts and the typical "fair" food.  But most of all, there was great weather and fun shops to scour.

The town is very cute with old buildings and even a railroad going through it.  The main area of the town has been revamped with a park like setting, including an outdoor concert area.

There was even an Elvis impersonator performing!

Do you ever get tired of seeing that????

I took my camera with me (of course) and thought I'd share some of the homemade crafts that caught my eye.

These are homemade hummingbird feeders made out of various glass containers.

And these are bird feeders made from Ball glass jars.

These were cute.  They were made from things you can find in nature, such as pine cones and sticks.

I thought these rustic birdhouses were cute with the metal roofs.

But these were my favorite. No two were alike.

What I enjoyed the most was going into the local shops along the sidewalks.  They were full of unique things.

See what I mean? And since these shops are open year round,  I can visit them whenever I want.

I hope to go to more festivals before Fall is over.

Have you been to any Fall festivals lately?

"Fall" on the Porch

Hello everyone!

I've been working on my front porch for a few days now.  I've been trying to give it some color for Fall and use things that I already had on hand.

I brought out my pumpkins and gourds along with some fall foliage, sticks and hay. My old crate came in handy for holding some of them too.

I hung a basket on my front door and filled it with ornamental grasses.

My rocking chairs are ready, if you want to join me on the porch!

I moved my geraniums to the bottom of the stairs for now.  I may eventually replace them with some yellow mums.

So, that is my front porch this Fall!  I have been enjoying the amazing weather we've been having here in GA this week.  I wish I could bottle it up and hang on to it forever!

Thanks for stopping by.

"Fall" in the House!

Hello everyone!

Well, yesterday was a tumultuous day regarding my computer!  It took many hours to get it to work properly.  I've been kicking myself over the fact that I caused it too!  It turns out that I can use Google Chrome for everything, and I'm fine.  I can't use Internet Explorer.  My husband got rid of the virus too.  There was a problem with the program used to download pics from my camera that appears to be a separate issue from the virus. So, we had to uninstall that program and use something else.  Whew!  Hopefully, I won't find anything else wrong with it.  What did we ever do without computers before?  I feel helpless when mine quits working.

So.........now that things "appear" be to back to normal, I thought I would share a couple of Fall decorations that I've added inside my home.  I just finished up my porch too, so I will share that with you next!

We have been waking up to much cooler temps here.

The trees and grass are still green, but the temperatures are falling!  I'm smiling big now.

I added some white pumpkins and branches with spanish moss on them to my coffee table.

I've kept it neutral inside choosing to use more texture than color.

Simple dried wheat makes a nice centerpiece on the dining room table.

I've done something new with my foyer too, but will share that in another post as well.

Hope you'll come back to see my front porch all decked out for Fall!

Thanks for stopping by.

Oops! Something Very Bad has Happened!

Hello everyone!

At the moment, I'm unable to post any of my own pictures on my blog very possibly due to a virus that has attacked my computer.  I downloaded something that ended up being a virus and it has affected many different areas of my computer.  It started with the program used to download pics from my camera and now has attacked pic monkey used to edit my photos. Guess, I have to find something else. My husband thought he fixed the problem, but everything I try to use has some how been affected!  Hopefully, I will be able to get this problem fixed so I can get back to blogging.  Otherwise, I guess this it!

Fingers crossed that I will be back................

Added note:  This problem may have been eliminated.  I hope to have a new post up and running tomorrow!

Candle Love

Hello everyone!

Not too long ago, my husband and I went shopping at one of his favorite stores.  They sell "outdoor" style clothing etc.  As soon as we entered the store, I noticed the most wonderful scent.  I asked what it was and they showed me this candle that was burning.  (This was a mom and pop style shop, not a major chain store.)  You could've knocked me over with a feather to find out that it was a scented candle that is typically used at Christmas time.  It didn't smell like a Christmas tree but rather just a great scent that could be used year round.

Here it is!

They told me that they buy them at Publix, of all places!  So, you know what I did?  I went and bought one.  It appears that it is similar to Yankee candle.  This brand is called, Village candle.

I placed it in my foyer inside the old crate.

I don't really like the color, but I LOVE the smell!  I will be burning this one a lot!

So, if you're looking for a really good candle, go check this one out at Publix.  It has two wicks so it burns evenly and it smells better burning than just straight from the jar.  This is not a seasonal candle, so it is available year round.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Old Fashioned Sign

Hello everyone!

I have always loved signage for decor on the walls.  So, when I spotted this gem on sale at Ballards, I snatched it up.  I just love it!

I love that it is black and white and has the word "farm" on it.

I hung it on the wall above a chair in our family room.

Doesn't it look like it was just made for this room?

Well, at least I think so.  I'm glad to have it.

Do you like old fashioned signs too?

My Fall Magazine Cover

Hello everyone!

It's finally feeling like Fall here in Georgia!  I woke up to cloudy skies and temps in the low 60's.  So, I thought it might be fun to create my own magazine cover as if it was going to press.  Didn't you play "pretend" when you were little?  So, this is a little like that I guess.

My magazine cover would include things like this...........

Cozy Family Room Designs

Unique Pumpkin Carvings

Hearty Soups that the Whole Family will Enjoy

Bring Out the Flannel Sheets

Football Tailgate Party Ideas

So, what do you think?  Would you be interested in this magazine?

You can click on the "sources" to get the content of each of these pictures too.  Recipes are included.

Hope you're off to a great week so far!

A Rustic Vignette

Hello everyone!

TGIF!
It seems like this week just flew by.  I can't believe it's already Friday.

I thought I'd share a new vignette on my chest in the foyer.  It works well with my neutral decor but also for the upcoming Fall season.

Remember, I used to have this old crate on my coffee table?  After I moved the trunk in it's place, the crate moved to my foyer.

I filled it with antler racks and a trophy cup filled with feathers.

I mixed pheasant feathers with turkey feathers.  I love the turkey feathers because of all the white in them. The pheasant feathers were found at Hobby Lobby many years ago.  I found the turkey feathers recently on Etsy.

I placed the lamp, that was once beside my bed, on the chest too.  It has a warmer look than the blue and white lamp that was here before.

The faux lavender in the olive bucket was replaced by white hydrangeas.

It's all a nice blend of rustic outdoor items that bring warmth to the space.  The blue chest keeps it from being too bland.

So, do you have any plans this weekend?  We are supposed to get cooler temps soon.  I can't wait!  I'm hoping to begin some outdoor projects once that happens.

Have a great weekend!
