Stylish Message Centers

Hello everyone!

This time of year, we're all organizing our calendars and organizing our lives basically.  So, chalkboards and other forms of message centers are a big part of that

I have this little chalkboard hanging in the hallway right outside my kitchen.  It is cute, all by itself, with it's wooden frame and metal basket to hold chalk etc.  However, I wanted to jazz it up just a little bit more.  My hallway is white and could use a little extra style and interest.

This is how it started out (minus the writing).

But, I decided to add these little bitty garden pots, that I had, to the basket.  Then I filled them with some greenery.

Such an easy way to dress this little chalkboard up.

I love the rustic charm it has.

Another stylish way to keep organized is having a place to hold reminders and notes etc.  I don't like a bunch of magnets all over the refrigerator etc.  So, this metal message center solves that problem.  This hangs on the side of our refrigerator.  It's easy to clip a note to  whenever it is needed.

Do you have any innovative and stylish ways to stay organized in your home?

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I just redid our family command center. I don't use a chalkboard though..I don't like the dust it leaves behind. Dry erase board instead.

  5. I absolutely love both ideas, Kelly! I wish I had seen the chicken wire boards before I bought the fabric boards for my office. Okay, I'm sure I could find another place to use them!!! Can you email your sources?

Love the plants, the perfect embellishment! :)

  7. I agree about magnets on refrigerators Kelly. That's always been a sore spot for me. I use the side of our fridge also, which is chalkboard. The one thing I don't like about chalkboards is they never look clean after erasing. I found a way to fix that. Coke! Try it, it really works.

Your little message center is adorable, and the plants add so much!

  8. I love the cute little plants you added to your chalkboard, Kelly! I don't have much of a green thumb as far as indoor plants go, but the green really livens up the gray days of winter. I have chalkboard panels on my pantry doors and it's a great place to keep my grocery list and appointments where I can see them daily.

  11. Cute ideas, Kelly! The addition of the pots with the greenery was a great idea to give the chalk board a bit of a pop.
I LOVE your mini re-do in the bedroom! It all looks so fresh in there. It's nice to change things up after the holiday things are put away, isn't it? Good job, Kelly!

  17. I don't have many rustic touches because it doesn't really fit with my traditional decor...but here and there I sneak in a little bit because I really do love it! I need another house to decorate, lol!

  18. I like that metal message center. I don't think I've ever seen one like that. Your mini plants added a lot to that chalkboard too. Greenery is always a good thing in my opinion. :) I have some things I have to display (school calendars, dentist appointment reminders, etc.) but I keep them on the side of the fridge where no one can see them. I used to keep them on the front of the fridge, but it drove me crazy seeing it all day long. Lol! I also have a calendar around the corner from the fridge. It's just hung on the wall where you can't really see it unless you're walking by on your way to the laundry room. I'm old fashioned and still insist on using a real calendar on the wall (as opposed to the one on my phone) I like that I can just glance at it every morning to see what's on tap for that day.

  20. I love chalkboards Kelly! And chicken wire! I will definitely put a chicken wire frame on the fridge to replace the magnets! Why didn't I think of that! Love your plants along the bottom of the board. I am totally inspired!
