A Country Wedding Part One

Hello everyone!

My husband and I went to a wedding over the holiday weekend.  I love sharing pics from a wedding because there are always so many great ideas shown.  I'm a romantic at heart too, so I enjoy going to weddings as well.  This wedding was for the daughter of a firefighter friend of my husband.  We have known his family for many years and were so honored to be a part of their big day.  She just graduated college at UGA and her husband recently graduated from Ga Tech!  Hmmmmm........and they actually like each other!  LOL!  For those of you that don't live in GA, those are big football team rivals!  Anyway, they have a wonderful future planned.  They will move to Texas, where the groom has a job lined up as a chemical engineer, and she will be an interior decorator with the degree she just earned.  Pretty exciting huh?

As we approached the venue, Sanctuary Plantation, we followed the sign to the ceremony.

This is what we saw as we drove up.  It's an antebellum plantation!

This was an evening outdoor wedding.  The guests were seated in front of the plantation overlooking a beautiful view (which I'm sorry to say I did not get a picture of).

Here is the bride coming out to greet her groom at the beginning of the ceremony.

Regrettably, I did not get any pics of the ceremony itself.  I wish I had, though, because it was a beautiful setting in front of a large fountain.

After the ceremony was over, the wedding party walked back into the plantation.

We were all instructed to drive down the hill to the barn on the property to enjoy the reception.

There was a beautiful gravel path lined with roses leading to the barn.

We were greeted by this cute old window with the wedding date added to it.

Upon entering the barn, we were able to add our names to this picture featuring their wedding invitation.

We walked in to the upper level of the barn, so when looking down over the railing this is what we saw.  Very festive!

Well, you'll have to come back for part two.  Sorry!!!

I hope all of you are having a restful Memorial Day today.  We will be cooking out later today with family.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. So beautiful. My nephew got married in a similar wedding. Same kind of plantation home in Alabama.
I really like her dress. Wondering if it is a heirloom. That barn is spotless.
About my nephews wedding......their septic backed up the same day. How awful, huh.

  2. The dress is stunning. Honestly, I wish more brides chose dresses that are pretty and suited to their style, rather than following the latest bridal trend. I love the idea of having signatures around the invite. That idea could be translated to bday parties, graduations, & other events.

  3. This is perfect for me. I am working on my son's wedding. I made a chalkboard for the entrance, but after seeing your pics, I am going to suggest that we have the chalkboard on an easel in front of the entrance.

    Show more pics!
