Hello everyone!
I hope you're having a good Monday so far. It is just too hot here in GA to go outside and do anything! So, I've been staying inside with the air conditioning. How about you? Is the summer weather nice or unbearable where you live?
Since it has been unbearable outside here, I took advantage of being inside and painted the dresser in my guest bedroom this weekend. I'm so glad to have this project done because it was so tedious!
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in French Linen, clear wax and dark wax. I took the handles off and painted them white for contrast. I was going to leave the handles alone until I saw how bad they looked with the new paint color.
Due to the cabinet doors and drawers this was a bear to paint! I used Annie Sloan dark wax to give it more of an aged look and it was different from the dark wax I've used in the past. So, I had to get used to the difference. I think that is why it took me so long to complete this project.
Here is a reminder of how it looked before.
And now the after.
It looked fine before but didn't flow with the room as well. This is the rest of the room.
So, I'm glad that it is done and is a huge improvement over how it was before in this room.
Now, if I can just get someone to use it!
Thanks for stopping by.
~ Kelly ~
It looks like a totally different dresser! It's beautiful and I love how you painted the handles white. Everything flows so nicely now. It's unbearably hot here too, so we're hunkering down indoors. We're close to 100 during the day and it barely drops below 90 at night.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! Love the colour.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation! It's such a pretty piece, and your beautiful paint job really updated it!

What a big transformation---it's gorgeous! There is so much detail that just didn't show up before. I love the whole room---I just turned my daughter's room into a guest room and I'm hoping my brother will be visiting in a few weeks to give it a run!! Ha!

What a beautiful transformation Kelly! I love the color, it does flow so nicely with the rest of your guest room. We are in that same heat wave as you here. It's supposed to feel like 100 and something here today and tomorrow with heat advisories. My daughter just got home from the beach and she said it was so hot, the sand was hot, the water was hot, everything is just so HOT! I'm with you - in the AC!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! It was fine before but it's so much more you now. The room is great!
ReplyDeleteLooks great....love that color! I'm sure it won't stay empty long ;o)

A-MAZE-ING!!!!! So 'Kelly!'
ReplyDeleteOh I love this look! May I visit!! lol
ReplyDeleteThe dresser looks fantastic. It is hot & humid here in California, too - but it is very unusual (especially by the beach), so we DON'T have air conditioning in our home. I am just taking it easy (no projects today).
ReplyDeleteASCP French Linen is always a favorite of mine. PRETTY!
Best,

Dresser looks great Kelly. Luv the colour and the contrast of the hardware .
ReplyDeleteIt has been hot here as well and MUGGY!!! Today the thunder started an hour before therein finally came... short and sweet, but left it feeling heavy. I am inside painting. A/C Baby!! All the way :)
It is so hot, but I worked outside all day and now I'm wiped out! That does look better painted.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Kelly! You did a great job on it. It really suits the room.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Kelly it looks beautiful. What a great re love of this dresser. Looks so sweet in the guest room with all the other beautiful pieces.

It's a very beautiful piece, Kelly! I've not used ASdark wax, only the clear, that's interesting that you found it more of a challenge! But, the piece turned out great! Love the room, you'll need to invite a friend to come stay with you :) Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYour dresser is so much more you with its new color, Kelly! And I love your wall basket holding the curly willow branches. Your guest room looks very inviting and I'm sure any guest would feel pampered to stay there!
ReplyDeleteomg this is gorgeous Kelly...I love Annie Sloan and French Linen and Graphite are my faves....Now can I come visit???
ReplyDeleteOh, what a difference a good paint job can do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job Kelly...I love the way it looks painted!! I just love the power of paint!!
ReplyDeleteBetween the change of color and hardware, it doesn't look anything like the original dresser.mas you said, mthe original was fine but this is so much nicer, especially with your decor.
ReplyDeleteThe black wax can be a bit tricky. You mentioned it was different than other waxes. May I ask in what way?
Looks great with your room now..Nice fit..Is the lamp pole next???
ReplyDeleteHope you are staying cool..not a fan of summer..I think it's more confining than winter..Enjoy your week..
Super transformation. You can notice the details. It's amazing how paint is wax do that. It's very hoy and humid here. The summer combo I don't enjoy

It looks really great, Kelly. Fits in perfectly with the rest of the room. I am heading to Georgia next week. I hope it cools down a bit by then. We have been having lots of rain here. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteLove it Kelly great job. and wishing for a bit of your heat from up there, it's a tad chilly down here in NZ as the winds blow up from antarctica

The dresser makeover turned out great...it's very pretty and looks perfect in the room. It's been really hot and humid here in Ohio with lots of rain and storms. Can't wait for Fall to get here.
