Hello everyone!
I love white rooms. However, with the cooler weather finally upon us, I've been craving a little bit of warmth in my mostly white house. I already have dark brown wooden floors which is a huge help in offsetting all of the white. However, I wanted a bit more. So, I decided to bring in some more brown tones and wood. It still keeps my rooms feeling soft but adds more dimension I think.
The first thing I did was to add stacks of old brown books in a large wooden tray to my coffee table.
I'm liking it already! Then, I moved a few of them up to my mantel (sorry, white books that I just added recently).
Then, I brought in a burlap pouf. I like the look of burlap and the texture. Plus, it is functional as well as stylish.
Over in my sitting room, I added a rustic wooden tray with rope handles.
I'm loving these changes and the warmth it brings to the space. It keeps these rooms from feeling "too sweet". I like the juxtaposition between the feminine and masculine too.
It is supposed to be beautiful here in GA this weekend. Do you have any fun plans? I will probably help my son with a school project and go to the movies to see The Martian. Has anyone seen that yet?
Thanks for stopping by!
~ Kelly ~
I always enjoy seeing the changes you make to your beautiful home! I'm totally crushing on those pillows on your sofa too! I have a pouf in my living room and use it constantly. You'll love having one. I haven't seen The Martian yet, but I hear it's good! We're supposed to have great weather too. I know our A/C is glad to get a break from running 24/7. :)
ReplyDeleteKelly you have the best stuff, I love that tray with the rope handles!!! Happy Fall amiga!!!
ReplyDeleteLuving the warmth it added. Yes, adding dark wood tones to a white or light space is an instant injection of cozy and warm. Like you, I have dark wood floors, Brazilian tiger wood, that with eh white makes my heart sing!
ReplyDeleteWe are promised a beautiful weekend as well here in North Central Florida. Looking forward to it!!
Happy weekend!
I like your white room EVEN BETTER with the new touches. It is wonderful that you can change the room so easily with just a few new items because you are not tied down to colors.
ReplyDeleteBooks are just the best accessories of all! They really do warm up the space. I like the sticks on your mantel too for the natural color. It all looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Martian but a girlfriend who sees every movie told me it's great.
I love all of your changes Kelly! Your pouf is so cute, what a fun piece to pop here or there. We tried to see the Martian the first weekend it came out and it was sold out. We haven't had the chance to try again. It looks good though.

The wood and burlap add great texture to your rooms Kelly. No special plans for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe wood gives it the perfect touch for fall. I am planning on doing more work cleaning up the yard for winter to come.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! If you are looking for something to do, you could hightail it to Birmingham in the morning to the sale I am participating in at St. Mark's!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a beautiful job warming things up! Love the textures. Enjoy your weekend!

Kelly, you always know how to add just enough to make it warm and cozy. As you know I love the white. I've added bits of color too. I'm already thinking about Christmas. Now that the grandkids are here, I tend to really bring out the color at Christmas. I've always stayed with whites, gold and silver at Christmas, but the past three Christmas (the boy is 4) I've added a color a year, turqoise, red, and this year it will be lime green!
ReplyDeleteAdding what you did just made the room more ready for Fall and making the room cozier. great job!

Your room looks so cozy for Fall with the few changes that you made. Hope you have a great weekend.

Still hot in Texas!!! We are going home tomorrow but I wonder if I will EVER get to wear a sweater again?????? The LIGHT looks like fall ....but it doesn't FEEL like it!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the addition of 'natural and neutral' tones! Trays are such versatile pieces to use, as well as the books! Enjoy your weekend, we might have a bit of rain and definitely cooler temps (finally)! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things about white rooms, aside from how pretty and refreshing they are, is how versatile they can be. Adding a few wooden touches such as you did makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend is supposed to be cold...I can feel the difference now, but tonight is suppose to get below freezing!
Hi Kelly love your book collection. Great changes. Hope your doing well and enjoy your weekend. Great fall weather her this weekend

Unpainted wood always adds warmth.. I guess that's why am not crazy about painted wood. Everything looks very nice Kelly. Nice changes. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely changes, Kelly. I love the warmth and texture that wood adds to a room. I am inspired by the brown books and will have to look for some. It is hovering around freezing here. We had just some light wet snow flurries but just north of us got heavy wet accumulation (that should melt as the temps rise later in the week.) I am working on a few projects around the house. Hope you have a great day and week.
ReplyDeleteLove your darker shades of white here Kelly, such a home filled with pale that draws me in taking in all you inspire.
ReplyDeleteLove all your accent pieces, your wood caddy with the notched out handles reminds me of mine, your vignette use of it inspires it's use perfectly suited in your homes rural rustic designs of gathered and collected pieces.

I love the look of an all white interior with warm wood accents. You've added some nice warm tones to bring your home into fall. I love your wood horse!!
ReplyDeleteWe just went to The Intern- great movie!
What I love is that you really notice all of the darker pieces, among all of your white. Beautiful, just beautiful!
