Hello Everyone!
I recently discovered these bar stools for sale at Target and decided to give them a try in my kitchen. I liked that they were solid black and metal which gave them a very modern farmhouse look to them. My old ones were great too, but I was ready for a change. I will be selling them at a consignment store.
I like how light weight they are and can easily be moved to other locations.
I also found these pretty black and white geometric patterned place mats for my table. I like them so much that they stay out now.
I've been enjoying making subtle changes in my home with black and white colors. I'll share more rooms that have been "tweaked" upstairs soon.
In other news, this week is my husband's last week as a fire fighter Lt. He is having a big retirement party this weekend on his last day. It will be strange having him home EVERY night now! We have been married 29 years and he has been a fire fighter for 28 years. So, you can do the math. I'm looking forward to seeing what this new chapter in our lives will look like.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Kelly! Congrats to your hubby - what a wonderful, long career. Your black & white additions are wonderful. Jane
ReplyDeleteLove your new stools!!! Congratulations to your husband!!!! My husband worked nights for over half of our marriage....when he got a job working days it was a huge adjustment. There were some bumpy days but it all worked out in the end but it took a lot of patience.

Love those stools! I have to laugh about him being home every night. You may want to leave yourself. ha ha Just kidding. I'm sure y'all will do fine. Congrats to Jimmy and it's really weird him retiring before Doug when Doug is so much older and still can't retire!
ReplyDeleteYour stools look great! You can never go wrong with black and white.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your husband...I'm sure there will be adjustments on this new stage in life.

Luv Luv Luv it!!!! the black and white accents are what it needed to make it even better!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the stools! It's good that they're light weight too, so you can play around with them and move them from time to time. And congrats to your husband on his retirement! That's a long time to be a fire fighter and he deserves a great retirement. I'm sure you'll both enjoy this new chapter in your lives. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new stools! And the big lamp in the kitchen. Wish I could put one in there. No room!

ReplyDeleteKelly...I love your new stools!! My husband retired and decided to go back to work...the company he works for now has him working from home everyday. It seemed weird at first, but I do like having him at home.

There's nothing quite like black and white. It just always looks right. I'm crushing on those bar stools, too! Everything looks great, Kelly! Congrats on your hubby's retirement!
ReplyDeleteI love your new stools!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new life. It will be a change for sure. My husband retired before me, but it was still and adjustment. We both love all the time we have together.
Looks great Kelly!....and congrats to your hubby on his retirement!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have seen the commercials from Target where everything is black and white? It's a great combo that always looks elegant. I sense you're leaning toward more modern touches lately, and I'm feeling the same way. I love the combo of rustic with modern, and your home really lends itself well to that look.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your hubby on his retirement. If he's like most men, he probably has mixed feelings about it. It's important he find something he enjoys doing, if he doesn't have anything already...or the recliner might get a little too much use lol. I predict you can keep him pretty busy though. Maybe a new firepit? ;)
The stools are so cute. It is fun how a little change can perk the house up.
ReplyDeleteThe stools look perfect in your kitchen. Congratulations to you and your husband on his retirement!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your husband's retirement! This will be a wonderful change in your lives.
ReplyDeleteI like your new stools a lot -- if I didn't already have some that I like I would go find some. I love black and white as the base for a house -- there is a lot of it running through my own house. What is great is that you can add any color, especially bright ones, and it really pops. Or you can take it all away, and it has a really sleek graphic look.
I love those stools, they look great!I would like to change out our stools but they're in perfect condition and I'd have to do some fancy talking to convince my husband lol! Now that I think about I do have some gift cards from Target, maybe I could use them for a stool change? lol xoKathleen
ReplyDeleteI love your new stools and placemats, Kelly! Congrats to your husband...new adventures ahead!
ReplyDeleteWe'll be in the same place in the next year or so...xo
