Hello everyone!
My backyard is slowly becoming a better place to relax and entertain in. We most likely will replace our back deck with a larger one if it's not SUPER expensive and possibly add a roof over some of it (if it's possible). Those are grand wishes for now. Time will tell if that ever happens. However, one thing that did happen was getting a fire pit area established. We still have more work to do with it but at least it's a start.
I ordered four wooden adirondack (folding) chairs and a copper kettle fire pit from Wayfair. We set it up in the woods that border our back yard.
(We need to have that ugly pine tree cut down.)
This was very affordable and allowed us to immediately begin enjoying the comforts of sitting around a cozy fire outside. The chairs were not assembled, however, so that is probably why they were so affordable! (Note to self: check next time before ordering.)
Even though the weather has been warm, the nights are cool enough to enjoy a fire right now. I'm sure during the Fall we will enjoy it much more!
(Ignore the weird furniture arrangement and lattice work along the stairs of the back deck. That is so our almost blind dog can go out without running into furniture and falling off the steps.)
Luckily, we have a ton of firewood leftover from some trees we had cut down a few years ago. It is seasoned and ready to burn.
I would like to have a border placed around the fire pit area and fill it in with pea gravel. It would look better and be safer from fire sparks. So, that is in the plans later this year for sure.
Here are some great looking fire pit areas that I found on the web.
All of those have more substantial sized fire pits but the over all look and feel is what I'm going for. I want a manicured yet rustic look.
Hopefully, I won't have to wait forever to get this project finished! (Honey, are you reading this?)
I hope you have a great weekend.

There is nothing like a firepit to cause a blending of thoughts and camaraderie, is there? I love ours and we don't use it nearly often enough! Your firepit area looks just lovely-like a place to relax and hang out. Hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYes! I remember you wanting to do this a couple of years ago! Good for you for getting it done. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou'll definitely enjoy it, as we have ours :)

I love sitting outdoors by a fire in the evenings! Your area will look great when you are finished with it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great and relaxing. I don't always pay attention to the fine print when ordering either. Have a super weekend

Looks wonderful..Enjoy..Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI really like your outdoor space with the firepit and I have always loved adirondack chairs. I bet your kids enjoy it too. Last year, my son had friends over for a camp fire in our backyard for his birthday. It was so easy and amazingly all of the kids were well behaved and didn't do anything crazy or dangerous. Clean up was easy too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to spend a spring evening!!
ReplyDeleteoh I love a firepit, Kelly! Before we moved we removed an old built in hot tub and installed a firepit in it's place. I wish we'd done it years before since the hot tub was beyond repair. You have great ideas for it, your property is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you'll have a cozy spot for fall!

I love what you've done already! That's so neat that the chairs are folding. Much easier to store, if need be. Your backyard space is so pretty. I wish we had woods like that bordering our property. So peaceful looking. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love a good firepit. It seems so conducive to conversation.
ReplyDeleteMay your spring be filled with flowers.
Happy May Day!
Love this space.
ReplyDeleteI just left Ron's blog of what makes me happy. Great things and I like almost the same things that you like.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy, sunny day.
