White is just right!

I am over the moon with how my foyer turned out!  I never thought I would love white so much.  I believe it is my favorite part of the house now.  For one thing, it gets the most light, and believe it or not, the foyer eats up most of my house!  It's really too bad, though, because I could've had more space in the actual living areas of the house had this foyer been downsized.  Maybe that's why I felt like it needed to be changed.  It has such a presence in my home, so I better like it!

I won't bore you with the "before" pics, I'll just show you the "after".

As you can see, I moved the clock out of here and into another room.
I replaced it with a large gray basket filled with white painted sticks.

The large round clock was replaced with a coffee sack.  The clock has now been placed on the wall upstairs. You can still see it when you come in (if you look up).

The bench only had a pillow change.  I recently bought a couple of these gray pillows that I've been wanting.  I LOVE them!

This is the view from the dining room.

Of course, just excuse the front door decor showing through.  I don't like how it looks from the inside when I hang something on my front door.  I prefer the leaded glass to just sparkle!

Here is where the floor clock moved.

Now that I've changed the color,  I think it flows better with my house  and has a lighter feel to it.  I also think it compliments my style better than the yellow did.

What do you think?

Still waiting

Well, I'm still waiting to get my foyer done.  My hubby said he will help get the high spots this afternoon.  Yay! So...........I don't have new foyer pics just yet.

My son is still sick and now my oldest son is getting sick.  Help! I hope I'm not next!  My youngest son went to the doctor yesterday and was told he had a double ear infection and conjunctivitis.  He's now on prescription medicine for it.  I'm hoping he will start feeling better this week.  My oldest son went to school late with a sore throat.  I'm using lots of Lysol disenfectant wipes everywhere now!

But, I don't want my blog to be all about germs and "woe is me" conversation.  So I thought I would show some pics of a home that I just love.  Pretty pictures are sure to improve the mood around here.  Ha!

These pictures are from Ekster Antiques.  I'm loving all the soft creamy white rooms in this house.

Look at that clock!  I have one too.  I may move mine out of the foyer and into another room though, because I have plans for something else in it's place.

Just take a look at the outside of this house!  It is the cutest thing I've ever seen.

But, it can get cuter!  Just look at the entrance.  The dogs, the topiaries, the stone, the lighting, and the blue painted ceiling!  This is the most charming entrance.  What I love about it is that it is simple but feels decorated at the same time.  It's also very symetrical (which I like).  Are you feeling the love?

Ok, I need to catch my breath now.  This house is such an inspiration to me!

I leave you now with just a little something funny.

I will be painting again this afternoon.  Hopefully, I will be back later in the week with my foyer makeover.

Look what I'm up to!

I have been thinking about changing the color of my foyer for a very long time.  So, this weekend, I decided to take the plunge.  The yellow color just wasn't working for me anymore.  I wanted something very neutral and light.  So I think I picked the right color.

LinenWhite by Benjamin Moore

This is the same color in my kitchen and lower half of the dining room.

This is still a work in progress!  I only have part of the first coat done so far.

I'm not sure why this is looking a little pink in this picture.  I took these early this morning and it may be the sun causing it.  I promise it doesn't look pink at all in person!

You can see here just how much work I have left to go on the first coat alone.

This is alot of wall space and very high ceilings.  I'm going to have to get my husband to help with this.

This will probably take several more days.  I can't wait for it to be finished.  I've repainted this foyer twice before and knew the huge undertaking this was going to be.  Anyone want to come over and help?  Ha!

crickets

And, I thought you'd love to see where everything was dumped stored while this painting is taking place.

Isn't this nice?  I'm really keeping it real this morning for ya!

What a mess!

On top of all this going on, my youngest son is home sick today.  He has a cold and was running a low grade fever last night.  Nice!  I hate it when he doesn't feel good.  So he is home keeping me company.  I will be taking care of him and trying to muddle through this painting by myself, since my husband is at work.

How is your Monday going?

I had to change it again!

Remember when I changed my bench fabric and pillows to a patterned fabric with lots of color?  I thought it would be a nice change for the cooler months.  Well, I thought wrong!  Each day, I would stare at it and feel uneasy about it.  I think it was because it didn't flow with the rest of the house very well.  If I was going to commit to that much pattern and color in the foyer, it would need to continue throughout and I just didn't want to do that.  So...............it's back to being very light and airy and solid.  To some, it may seem uninteresting and maybe even blah.  To me, it's just what I wanted.  It's fresh and crisp and most importantly it flows with the rest of the rooms in the house!  Isn't that what a foyer is supposed to be anyway?  It's a snapshot into what awaits you in the rest of the house.

You'll notice that I did manage to add a little pattern around the mirror, however.  I love brown and white transferware.

I really like the touch of brown around the mirrors to tie in with the brown on the bench too.

I recently found this cute little crate  at an antique shop and decided to use it in my sitting room.

I'm not sure if it's really old or not.  It looks like it was painted and distressed.  It has an oval metal plate on it as well.

Here it is on my chest of drawers (that is very old).

I really love it!  It has that rustic quality that I like.  It actually has dividers in it too which allow me to stand flowers in it perfectly.

Here is the side view.

I also have brown and white transferware dishes in the hutch above this chest.

And while I'm on the plate kick, I thought I'd show you the monogrammed plates in my secretary.  These monograms match my kids names.

Peek-a-boo!  Guess you can see me taking the pic.  Ha!

At the same antique store, I found this sweet little twig wreath.  It was obviously hand made.  For now, I hung it on my armoire in the family room.

Can you see it?

This may end up getting moved eventually, but here it is for now.

You know, by now, that I love Romantic Homes magazine.  So, of course, I must share something special out of the newest issue (November).

Cute little holiday tags that you can copy and print off at home onto card stock!

(Sorry my pictures aren't the best.  It's been very cloudy all week at my house and my flash caused a glare on some of the pics.)

There is a beautiful house featured in this magazine, too, that is all white and decorated for Christmas very simply with greenery, paperwhites and silver accessories.  Love it!  Go check it out!

Please don't forget that today is the last day for my custom poster giveaway.  So, go sign up now if you haven't already.  I'll be back tomorrow to announce the winner!
