Open Shelving in the Kitchen

Hello everyone!

I mentioned on Instagram that I was planning on changing up my display area in my kitchen.  I used to have a white bookcase with just a few shelves to store and display some white serving pieces.  Now, I have this extra large weathered wood with black metal shelving unit.  I love the contrast of the white dishes against the brown wood. Here is what it looked like right after the unit was assembled.

My Purchases from my Favorite Store

Hello everyone!

Happy Monday.  Did you survive the weekend?  It was a rainy one here in Ga but at least it was warm.  I can handle it much easier that way.

I forgot to share the items I bought at Linen & Flax last week!   I just found out that they are opening a second location too, so I'm excited about that.  They sell very good quality items.  One of my favorites is their magnolia stems.  They sell these year round.  They are so lifelike and much nicer than those you can find at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael's.

An Antique Mirror Makeover

Hello everyone!

My husband brought home an old dresser mirror that was found at his parents house.  It is supposed to attach to a dresser (which we have).  I recall wanting the dresser but not the mirror many years ago.  I forgot they still had this mirror.  Well, now that it has been so many years, I have a set of fresh eyes for it!  I decided to take another look at it and see what I could do with it.  This is how the mirror looked originally.

New French Style Dining Chairs

Hello everyone!

I guess this is the year for new chairs!  I recently replaced my kitchen chairs and now I've replaced my dining room chairs.  I've had my eye on these French style chairs for many years.  I always liked them.  I finally grabbed them when they went on sale with free shipping recently.  They are from World Market, called Paige dining chair in natural linen.  I love how they look and how comfortable they are.  My dining room is very small so to keep it set for four is the best solution.  However, I can seat up to six when I have guests.  I can just pull up two slipcovered chairs to the ends (like I did in my kitchen).  Ready to see them?

My Favorite Store

Hello everyone!

Boy, what a difference a week makes!  This time last week was cold and wet with snow on the horizon.  Now, temps have warmed up close to 70 and the sun is shining!  It's back to short sleeves and air conditioning in the car now.  Crazy!

With the weather being nicer, I ventured out to a new store.  It's about a year old but I just now discovered it! And all I can say is, I'm so glad that I did!  It had my name written ALL over it.  I showed these pics to my husband and he agreed.  What I loved the most about it was the charm of the overall store.  It was small but crammed with every single thing I loved!  It was like being a kid in a candy store.  It was very serene with soft neutral colors and texture everywhere.  The walls had ship lap and cute signs hanging on them.  The ceilings were draped in french style chandeliers and cotton boll garlands.  The windows were adorned with simple light and wispy linen draperies hanging off a tree branch!  At every corner, there was something unique to see.  It's a happy store with feel good messages on everything from towels to signs. I'm glad that I took pictures because I couldn't focus on everything at once.  Seeing it in pictures is helpful to study what was there.  Of course, I thought of you too!  Let's go on a tour!
