Whew! This sure has been a whirlwind of a week, hasn't it? So many parties, so little time. Ha! I guess this just about wraps up my Christmas decor to show you. I didn't do very much in my kitchen since it is such a busy place for us to hang out. Our computer is in here, a TV for watching and video games, the laundry room, the eating area and the cooking area. See? It is truly the hub of our home. So, I had to keep it as functional as possible.
Here are a few vignettes that I've displayed.
I added a wintry message to the chalkboard. I can leave that up all winter long. I just added some Christmas greenery and candy canes to my white dishes. BTW, the cup and little creamer are from Melissa's Heart and Home blog. I won her anniversary giveaway. They're so pretty!
My son and I decorated a gingerbread house together so it is prominently displayed on a pedestal so we can all enjoy it.
I added some red and white sparkle to my breadboard .
As you can see I introduced "red" for the holidays in my kitchen. This room is separate from all the rest, so I can choose whatever color I want and it doesn't conflict with the other rooms. Ha!
I painted "Ho Ho Ho" on a piece of burlap and draped it over the other burlap that was hanging on my oven door.
I did the same thing with the one hanging on the towel bar. I stenciled "25" for the date of Christmas.
I love my new jute rug too. I ordered it from French Larkspur. It has German writing on it. It came packaged so cute with old book pages on top and little butterflies cut out of book pages sprinkled in the package. She has a wonderful blog too if you want to check it out.
My breakfast area is dressed up with a wreath on the window, my dog's stocking hung on the back of a chair and some Christmas greenery stuck in the centerpiece.
Does your dog have a stocking? Mine looks forward to seeing what's in it Christmas morning. It's one of our favorite things.
It is VERY cold and rainy today, so I'm just going to stay in today and keep warm.

ReplyDeleteKelly, thanks for stopping by and visiting. I do like living in the north but by the end of January I'll probably be happy to ship you all of your snow. I miss the garden in the winter. Love all your burlap touches, they look great in your kitchen. We have the same kitchen cabinets but I don't have your nice counter tops. Will be your newest follower, Laura Cottage and Broome. Would love love to see you back.
ReplyDeleteI realy like your Gingerbread house. It's been years since I made one but it was fun and they look so cute sitting out! I'm copying your idea of stenciling on burlap and hanging with other towels!

Your kitchen is so cozy! I have two of those "burlap" rugs but I use one draped over my upholstered headboard and one will recover the back of a chair in my den. A blog reader who is a decorator got them for me a while back...I love mine.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed seeing your holiday home. I've only done a wee bit of decorating in my den....maybe I'll get some pictures posted before Christmas. The mantel is all cremes, whites, mercury glass and some DIY music covered candles. I think it's my favorite Christmas mantel ever!
Have a wonderful week and stay warm,
Judy
I remembered helping my sister make a Gingerbread house the kids loved it. I like the coziness of your kitchen.

Love your kitchen, Kelly! See, everything you've mentioned is why I usually try to keep my counters clear of decoration. Rather than have it pushed out of the way, I'd rather decorate with it somewhere else. I have that same little creamer! Love it with your other white pieces and the greenery. That's always a classic look.
ReplyDeleteThose burlap towels are so darn cute! andrea@townandprairie

Love your little pops of red, makes the kitchen very festive. Our cat has a stocking, but her favorite part of Christmas is she gets canned food on both Christmas Eve and Christmas, not her normal dry food. She is VERY vocal once she smells it! Happy Sunday.
