Hello everyone!
One of the things that I think sets up a kitchen to be both functional and stylish is the type of storage that is used. I was looking around my own kitchen and realized that I have quite a few pieces that make sense for my family but also provide that extra farmhouse style that I'm so attracted to.
My oldest son is on a health food eating kick. I'm not complaining! However, that means instead of sweets, he eats a lot of fruits. Some of which don't have to be stored in the refrigerator. I am running out of room! LOL! He loves apples, so I poured them in this french style basket.
Also, we've been cooking up potatoes many different ways lately, so I buy the big bag and pour them in a basket too.
My baking needs are stored on top of this black table in clear apothecary jars. I like that they're convenient to reach, but not on the kitchen counters.
My youngest son, has a bit of a sweet tooth, however, and insists on having cookies and milk every day. So.....cookies are stored in this airtight jar.
Next to the cookies, is my bread box. I also use it to store tortilla wraps and croutons. It is full! Love that I can't see the contents, but have easy access to it.
My napkins are stored neatly in this french style napkin holder. I've had this thing for years!
I have a drawer full of sharp knives, but liked having this magnetic strip bar to hold my favorite set.
One of the best things I've come up with is this simple basket to hide our electronic devices (mostly cell phones) while they're charging. There are several in my household and I hated looking at them all lined up on the counter every day.
So now the cords stay plugged in, and after you connect your device up to it, you just set it down in the basket. Out of sight and one central location works like a charm!
Beside my kitchen sink, I have a basket full of pretty dishtowels and an old-fashioned mason jar soap dispenser for your hands.
My wooden spoons are kept by the stove and stored in a white pitcher.
And of course, you've already seen my bottle drying rack converted to a coffee cup holder in my last post.
So, look around your kitchen and see if you have anything that you need access to but it isn't in a very pretty container. Re-thinking the way you store things, makes a big difference in how your room looks.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Thanks for stopping by!

You have some beautiful ways to store things in your kitchen Kelly...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Oh Kelly I love how you have stored all your items.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of your cute kitchen.
Everythings so beautifully organized, Kelly. I want my kitchen to be like yours when it grows up. lol
ReplyDeletegreat ideas! I like using baskets as storage and really like the storage of electronic/chargers in a basket. Glad you provide your children with both fruit and cookies :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful ideas!!
ReplyDeleteI have always luved your kitchen Kelly. My kids laugh at my storage ideas... but hey they work for me. I too plop produce and fruit in handy decorative pieces.. Potatoes in a basket, apples in a bell jar that moves all over the place. onions in a vintage glass bowl and my coffee station has my coffee at the ready in a mason jar. If it going to be out... it must look pretty :-)

Okay, I may steal the idea of the basket holding dish towels next to the sink. Nice storage ideas.
ReplyDeleteWe are on a similar page today my friend. I love your baskets for storage. I have already found a tray for my coffee items. Have a terrific weekend.
ReplyDeleteExcellent storage ideas- so nice on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteWell done with the phone charger hiding - such an eyesore - may have to take that idea and run with it!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Great ideas, Kelly! I really like the chicken wire basket with the dish towels..so handy right by the sink, also the basket for the recharging phones. Thanks for all the ideas. My counter space is so limited, I'm always looking for ways to free up some counter space.
ReplyDeleteHugs and have a great weekend.
My kitchen is so small that even the pretty things have to be functional too. No room for fluff! All of your storage solutions are wonderful. The baskets are my favorite. :o)
ReplyDeleteKelly, we do the same thing here with our cell-phones, but mine is a metal box that looks weathered with a rooster on it. I almost purchased that same bread box today, but I talked myself out of it. Hmmm....
ReplyDeletemaybe I'll have to go back to get it.
Have a great weekend.
hugs,
Cindy
Very pretty storage solutions Kelly! Love that basket you have filled with apples!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket cord idea! I'm stealing that's if you don't mind? ..lol your house looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteLove all your storage accessories. . The knives facing up scare me!! Would it still look ok and be safer with the blades pointing down?
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas Kelly, I need to use a basket for the cell phones too!
ReplyDeleteAdore your place!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteLove the display & practical storage ideas in your farmhouse kitchen! Makes it easier for everyone to help themselves. Your baskets are a great size, colour & texture too!

This is a great post Kelly. It made me look around my kitchen to see where I can do better, as well as noticing the stylish storage that I already have!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty storage solutions, Kelly. Love all of the baskets.

Good ideas..I have a tiny kitchen so I try to have everything AWAY..No room for stuff..makes it look cluttered ..
ReplyDeleteLove your storage ideas...and I am with Kim...I am loving the basket with the tea towels...that may free up a drawer for me!.....and I know what you are going through with the "healthy eating"...I have so much fruit and veggies that I struggle with room to put all of it..but I have substituted the "Potato Bin" for the apple bin, as they are no potatoes in the house anymore...:(
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Kelly!!!
Love, LOVE, love it ALL!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to have a pretty kitchen and be functional too!

Your kitchen looks so pretty and organized! I have that same 'bread' box and use it to store dish towels, oven mitts, etc. I also love your chalkboard/wreath-too cute!!
ReplyDeleteSusan
Practical and pretty storage pieces! I have a similar bread box and would love a French drying rack. The scissors and twine are lovely too. I like to use mason jars and glass canisters for storage and have all my baking essentials in large canisters on our counter.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful baskets! I try to use a lot of baskets and crates for storage too. I love the way they look. I really love that you put all the cahagers in a basket! I don't know why I never thought of that! I hate having all of these ugly cords hanging out of the outlets in my kitchen, I am tatally stealing that idea!
ReplyDeletep.s. Joss & Main sent me an email and my pictures are on back order. :(
Kelly,
ReplyDeleteWhat great storage ideas. I love that you use alot of baskets for storage and hiding things that are not as pretty. Really neat.
