Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for all of your words of support while my son is away at boot camp. I really cherished reading them all. I'm finally feeling better and able to cope with him not being home for awhile. Last week was TOUGH! I am trying to stay busy while he is away, so we all went to a Fall festival this weekend.
Have you ever heard of Gold Rush Days? It's very well known if you live in GA. It is in the North GA mountains of Dahlonega. That is only about 40 minutes from our house. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and comfortable temps.
Warning! Picture overload ahead!
This town is an old gold mining town. That's why it's named Gold Rush Days.
Here are some people panning for gold!
There were lots of booths with crafts for sale.
I thought this lavender was a good price.
Cute bird houses for sale.
Fall decorations for sale.
There was plenty to eat too!
Here is my son on his second helping of food! He ate a hot dog and then asked for some chicken fingers. I had a hot dog and fries and my husband had some BBQ.
The town is full of pretty old buildings too.
Here is a restaurant with gorgeous greenery hanging off the balcony.
And the old courthouse is now a museum.
Many people brought their dogs too. They were everywhere! We left ours at home though.
We found this pretty memorial garden in the town too.
Overall, it was a fun day to get out of the house and get some fresh air in the mountains.
What did you do this weekend?
Thanks for stopping by!
~ Kelly ~
It looks like a wonderful town, and what a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend we had an Oktoberfest dinner with friends and spent a day today working on home projects and going for a walk in the neighborhood before dinner.
We haven't been in years. It was perfect weather today.
ReplyDeleteMy kind of weekend! Looked like fun!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been to Gold Rush Days in years. I like to go to Dahlonega, and see the little shops. I went to college there, way back when, and it's always interesting to see how things have changed. Glad you had a good time. Thinking of you now that your son has gone to boot camp. Take care.

Keeping busy is a great idea! That looks like a great festival. We had a quiet weekend with our youngest son's hockey game Friday night and lots of tidying.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting towns with historic homes and beautiful parks. Looks like a fun day in the sun! It snowed here today, so your photos are a welcome sight.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! Those pics are great! I can't believe how blue the sky is in them. Looks like it was a perfect day. I love this time of year with all the fall festivals, etc. going on. We spent the weekend installing new pavers on our patio, and now I'm sore all over. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day! The weather was beautiful...we headed to the mountains!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week...
Blessings,
Cindy
We just visited that area 2 weeks ago and that town was our favorite! It took us quite a time to learn how to pronounce the name. The tour of the gold museum was really worth the money too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely town and it all looked so fall and festive!! Glad you are moving on and doing things. It's still hard, I'm sure. I get days where I really miss my son out in California.....
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a great show. I babysat my grandson on Saturday night while his daddy, mommy, and sister went on a haunted hayride. Then on Sunday, we went to my in-laws for my mother-in-law's birthday.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
