Hello everyone!
I just recently learned that the color of the year for 2014 is "Radiant Orchid".
I really like it too because it's a romantic color.

The first thing I thought about was that I could use my orchids to bring in that color to my home.
source
I like how this color works well with white furniture and upholstery.
source
There are lots of pretty accessories out there that would be easy to incorporate in various rooms too.
source
A simple throw adds a nice pop of color on this white sofa. It compliments grey very well also.
source
Glass containers are always a good choice for vibrant flowers too.

And baskets......
Do you like this new color of the year?
Thanks for stopping by!

It is a really pretty color. I especially love it in the flowers you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI never pay attention to the color of the year..... I just use whatever I love. Radiant Orchid is a beautiful color.....I love any shade of pink though so I might be slightly partial :o)

I LOVE this color! One of my crepe myrtles is very similar to this color, so I might need to cut more blooms to bring inside this year. :) I also love how something as simple as a throw on the sofa can update a room. Love all these pics!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much I will use this color in my home. But I really do like it, is is light and flirty and romantic. Such a lighthearted, fun color.

That is a very pretty color, and romantic. OK, I'm thinking my splashes of red left over from Christmas have got to go as I have a few things in the garage in this nice color.
ReplyDeleteLove the wooden grate on the table with dishes and flowers. That is a wonderful centerpiece.
I love, love, love purple in any shade and have been using it in my home for over 10 years. Finally, it's a popular color and so much easier to find the accessories I want.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the color. Its' the first one in a few years that I actually like. I can see having a lot of fun with it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Will enjoy it at YOUR house or in MY yard. Not a big fan of it in my house or on my face or in my clothing.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting I love that color.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of bougainvilleas that I can bring in doors.
oh, the possibilities...
I just need more time...
Hi Kelly. I have flowers in this shade of pink or orchid. It is pretty as an accent color. I do not have this color in any of my rooms though. xo, olive
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. I do love that color especially in orchids or other flowers.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a beautiful color. I have a lavender guest room- not the walls but the accessories and bedding and everyone LOVES sleeping in that room. I think orchid is a restful color. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYes, I do like it! I wish my house was a more neutral color scheme so that I could add pops of this here and ther. All of the photos you showed are beautiful, especially the little pink house with the baskets.
ReplyDeleteI have to confess that I am just not a purple person, although I really do like the flowers. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteI agree that the orchid looks pretty with the white. Not sure how it would look at my house, and I wasn't thrilled about last years emerald.
ReplyDeleteGuess I have to be one of the few who does not particularly like that color..Love lilacs though..Guess anything goes in flowers but other than that ...not a fan.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering who actually chooses the color of the year…a panel of designers?…anyway, the only time I can use that color is in flowers…it is a pretty color..
ReplyDeleteYes it is a beautiful color. And boy and I thinking about spring! Thanks for the lovely photos and inspiration <3
