Hello everyone!
As much as I love using flowers in my home, I also love using branches. I like the texture they bring to a space and the unique shape they have. Best of all, I can go outside and pick them right out of my own yard. We have a lot of trees in my yard, so branches are plentiful.
I wanted to share some inspiration pics as well. There are a lot of great ways to use them.
Don't they make a statement?!
So, I set off to do the same in my home in my dining room. I brought up an urn from my basement and filled it with some oasis. I used some curly willow branches mixed in with some from my own yard and arranged them in the oasis. Then I covered the base with spanish moss.
The good thing about this kind of project, is that it doesn't have to be perfect. Branches on trees aren't, so mine don't have to be either.
It's just another way to add texture and interest to a room.
So, next time you're picking up twigs etc from your yard after a storm, don't throw them out so quickly. If they have an interesting shape. Save them and make a branch arrangement of your own!
Thanks for stopping by!

Kelly, what a statement they make.
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived up North in "Almond Country" I had a big tree in the back yard, and used branches all year long...they were especially beautiful when full of white blooms.
Now you got me thinking,....excuse me, but I'm heading to the back yard to see what I can find. Tee Hee.

I love twigs and branches, too. That looks great in your dining room, Kelly. I love curly willows.
ReplyDeleteI once re-did a coffee house and dragged a HUGE limb in that had fallen off after a thunderstorm. It still had a bird's nest in it.
They thought I was nuts but I put it on one main long wall and shot uplights into it. They got LOTS of comments on it over the years.
I love that look. Hmmm, I need to go clean up sticks.
ReplyDeleteI like your moss filled urn with branches. It looks great where you put it. You do have the knack.
ReplyDeleteI love using bramches or sticks too. I often add them to an arrangement for interest, height etc. But alone they are just as beautiful! So glad to be home and back to visiting and blogging!!!
ReplyDeleteKelly I love the simplistic and elegant look of the branches in your beautiful urn!

i've got some "sticks" i use in urns/vases from time to time too...don't you just love how organic they look? i have some curly willow branches i got years ago at HB that are kinda plastic (not looking but feel plastic) but i can bend and shape them very easily.
ReplyDeletehow is your son doing? i think about him from time to time...hope he is doing better now that he's home.
So pretty Kelly! Funny I just commented about falling limbs on your earlier post... I guess I need to make an arrangement. Your arrangement looks very pretty on the cabinet!

Love the branches!! I think I need to go outside and get me some branches for an arrangement. Hope my puppies won't chew on them or bring me a branch to throw, so they can go fetch it. LOL...

ReplyDeleteBranches and twigs can easily be just as beautiful as colorful flowers. It's all about artfully arranging them but from the look of your display, you already know that ;).
