Hello everyone!
It's no secret that I love romantic style furnishings. I love white slipcovers, candles, flowers, mercury glass candlesticks and white dishes on display. I also love decorating books and magazines. So, why not combine them all for a fresh summer look in my family room?
It all started with a new vignette on my coffee table. I changed it up by adding a vibrant purple orchid, some decorating books and candles.
The orchid is new. It's actually real too! I have faith that it will do well because of the other one that I've had for years and successfully re blooms. I love this bright purple color with all the white and grey in the room.
I also decided to change up my mantel again by using only mercury glass candlesticks. I like the collection together.
Of course, I have plenty of decorating books to browse though too. I brought some of them out of storage for easy access too.
The family room is always a place to relax and unwind at the end of every day.
I think that's why I like it so soft and unfussy.
Do you have a favorite room to relax in?
Thanks for stopping by!
~ Kelly ~
Your family room is gorgeous. It looks so inviting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the collection of white candles and books. You can't go wrong with those elements.
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas I gathered all of our mercury glass candle sticks on the mantle. I liked it so much, they stayed there. Love the sparkle they add.
Your room is so very pretty, Kelly. I love love your coffee table with the rustic board top and painted base. I need to find one like that. The mercury glass pieces look great on your painted fireplace. I really like the china cupboard with all the white pieces. Such a calming room. My living room is my favourite relaxing place. We hang out in our family room or even our master bedroom and pile on our king bed and watch tv with the teens on occasion. But, my favourite quiet spot just to read or visit is our living room.
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteYour family room is so pretty. I have always loved that wonderful coffee table and the vignette looks so great. I have always wanted to try and orchid because of how pretty they are. I have heard you just put an ice cube in the plant once a week to water and that is it. Is this true? Yours is gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteI love your room. I wish I could do things with our coffee table, but Hubby likes to put his feet on it and whatever is on it gets moved over. I also love those books, I will have to put them on my to buy list.

I really like the idea of using one type of item on the mantel, with varying sizes and shapes. It's a nice, clean look and I like the sparkle it adds. Good luck with your orchid. I've never been brave enough to try them. :) My favorite room to relax in is probably my little reading corner in my master bedroom. I love sitting there by the window with a big stack of magazines and a cup of tea. And if it's raining outside, that makes it even better. :)
ReplyDeleteYour room looks so serene and comfortable. I'm trying to get there, but have to justify each time I paint another piece of furniture white. Hubs likes dark wood, I like painted. Mars and Venus for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful. Light and fresh for summer.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful orchid! And I like the platter of candles, even for the summer. Lovely room to relax in!

The pop of the orchid looks so pretty against all of the more subdued colors!! Such a pretty vignette on your coffee table. I so wish I could incorporate more white into my decor, especially in the warmer months, however my two dogs and two cats and four year old daughter make that a little difficult right now. Maybe someday. : )
