Hello everyone!
How is your Monday going so far? It is cold, windy, and rainy here in GA. Not too pretty!
I made a cotton wreath the other day and thought I would share it with you. I've seen these for sale, but rather than buying one, I knew I could make one with supplies I already had. I've had real cotton stems for a few years now. I usually just place them in a container and enjoy them that way. But this time, I thought I'd take it a step further and make my own wreath to hang over the gate above my fireplace mantel.
It was so easy! I just cut off the pieces of cotton from the branches and hot glued them to a grapevine wreath. The grapevine wreath is the perfect backdrop for the cotton.
I did this on my kitchen counter. Super fast!
Then hung it up.
After I completed this, I searched online to find some other examples of cotton wreaths. I wanted to know how mine measured up. LOL!
I found several that looked good. Many of them were extra full or included bows or different designs entirely. I wanted mine to be very simple and basic though. But, if you're so inclined, here are some others to inspire you.
So............if you've got some cotton lying around, you're halfway to a cotton wreath of your own!
Thanks for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteKelley, Who knew raw cotton balls could be so cute. I think they all look nice. I like your wreath on the gate. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI just might make one today. Thanks forsharing.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing, Kelly. My cousin showed up here one night with a bunch of cotton and I couldn't let it go to waste. I made two wreaths. Did you find that your cotton had dirt in it? I guess that's nature but I did a lot of picking to try to clean it up. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your cotton wreath!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!!!! It looks great hanging on the old gate...which I love BTW!!!

ReplyDeleteI love this. I was so drawn to one from Joanna Gaines' shop. I love that you made it. The cotton looks like snowballs.

I love your wreath and also the gate you hung it on. I am asking for a gate for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteA pretty plaid bow for Christmas will be perfect. I love the use of cotton.
ReplyDeleteHummmmmm....why is it I don't think I've ever seen that kind of cotton up here? Maybe I have but never took notice. I like the simplicity of this look and how easy it is to do. The textures and colors work perfectly with your decor!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kelly. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Yours looks awesome! Love the Nature Inspired look!
ReplyDeleteYour cotton wreath looks so pretty! I love easy projects like this. I bought some cotton stems at Michael's awhile ago and finally decided this morning to just put them in a vase. Wish I'd bought more so I could make a wreath like this. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks so pretty! I love it hanging from the old fence piece!
ReplyDeleteI have cotton wreaths on my front doors now too! Love them! I can't wait to "modify" them so they are perfect for Christmas! Yours looks great! :-))
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! And I like it simple, too. We don't grow cotton up here so I'd never get my hands on the real stuff, but it's all over Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I bet you could sell these for a pretty penny! Especially to a Northerner like me! lol!
Jane xx
Love it Kelly!
