Hello everyone!
Since moving things around after Christmas, certain things ended up in different places. One of them was the extra large old gate that used to hang above my fireplace. When I took it down, I wanted to be able to use it some place else. I've only had it a few months anyway! So, I decided to give it a try in my bedroom above my bed.
The only way it would fit was on its side though. But laying it on its side caused it to not be level. So, I had to temporarily add something to one side to level it up.
I asked my husband to make me something with a piece of wood to place under one side. One he does that, it will look a lot better. (I hope!)
But, for now, this will have to do. I really like the large scale of it and the rustic style which gives my bedroom more of that farmhouse feel I love.
The best thing about it is that it is something unexpected and repurposed. That is something I strive to do throughout my home.
I should do a post about all of the things that I've repurposed in my house. I think you would be surprised how many there are!
Thanks for stopping by!
~ Kelly ~
Love it when you can repurpose from around the house.
ReplyDeleteIf you hang it on the wall you won't notice if it's uneven. Just a thought.
her bedroom is sooo beautiful !!! a happy new year wishes angie from Germany
ReplyDeleteI love it there. Will it not fall in y'all? Can't y'all hang it?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking what Kim said! I really love the contrast with your dark headboard. Jane
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorate with the unexpected, Kelly.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!

Ohhh I LOVE it!!!! Like others have pointed out you could hang it since it is unlevel. I use monkey hooks to hang everything now because they only leave a tiny little hole if you want to move things round but yet they hold a lot of weight. I think it is a great idea to do a post on repurosed things around your house!!!

It looks amazing above your bed ! The perfect farmhouse touch! I am nervous about it falling down on the two of you though! I vote for hanging it on the wall. (not that you asked) ;)
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing as KIm too. Also, the fact that it is uneven is part of its charm! I love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful and serene space to retreat! Love all the neutrals in your bedroom and the old gate over the bed makes a beautiful focal point...love it!~hugs, Poppy
ReplyDeleteIt is adorable. Your bed looks so pretty. I love the cute pillows.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! But I sure hope it does not fall on your head during sleep!

Your linens are gorgeous and the gate and other painted pieces look so nice with the contrast of the dark headboard. I have so many other projects to complete before our master is blog post worthy lol.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as Kim...aren't you worried it will fall on you when you are sleeping?
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome Kelly. I love that piece what a nice statement. I am like you and love to re love and repurpose things in my decor too. Love your sweet farmhouse touches to the bedroom.

I have a similiar big frame with chicken wire and I hang it directly on the wall. I like it over your bed Kelly... but we both know you'll be moving it in the future ;-) I'd love to see some of your repurposed items.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that beautiful bedding?..is it a duvet?
ReplyDeletelove all the black and white. so inviting.
ReplyDeleteKelly I love it over your bed but I would be afraid it would fall during the night. I agree with the others about trying to hang it.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! It looks great over your bed.

I love decorating around salvaged pieces rather then a portrait of sorts, it just has so much more attention demand in a room filled with Rustic romance.
ReplyDeleteMount it to the wall so you don't wake with a bump on the heads. I bet it will end up a perfect piece to hang a wreath from it next year....your room looks like a wonderful place to rest with peaceful dreams.

It's lovely Kelly! Good luck coming up with a more permanent solution, but not too permanent. I know you like to shuffle things around! lol I love all the neutrals and rustic charm you've incorporated throughout your home.

It's lovely, but like others, I think hanging it might be a good solution. I wouldn't want it to fall while you're sleeping...or doing something else. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love it there Kelly...yes, truly the unexpected, but I like some others worry about it falling in the middle of the night!! :) .... I am sure that your handy hubby will come up with the right solution!!...Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour fence piece makes a great statement in your bedroom, Kelly! I'd say leave it as is even though it's not perfectly level...adds that charm we all love to have in our homes.

I'd love to see a post about all the things you've repurposed in your house! Love stuff like that. :) I think the gate looks fabulous above the bed. It fits in nicely with the decor in there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found a place to display your wonderful old gate, Kelly. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece Kelly! It looks perfect above your bed! I want to change what I have...but I am not sure what to do yet.
