New Storage in the Kitchen

Hello everyone!

Well, if you're wondering if we were able to get the metal trim pieces painted from our shower enclosure, I'll tell you.  NO!  The weather has just been too cold and will continue to be for at least another week (according to the forecast).  What were we thinking trying to do this in January?????  So, we will continue to use the hall bathroom shower and work on other parts of the bathroom until we get the right weather to finish the job.

I bought the paint for the bathroom, so guess what we'll be doing today?

In the meantime, I thought I would show you what happened to the bookcase that we used in our bathroom.  We moved it down into our kitchen.  I added some bins for storage and it's getting a lot of use already.

I had these canvas bags and thought they would make good bins on the bottom.  I stenciled numbers on the front for interest.

On top, I added some decorative items that add some warmth to the mostly white piece.

And on the side, I hung this tea towel with black graphics for interest.

There used to be a grey cabinet in place of  this.  It ended up going in my youngest son's room.  We plan on working on his room after we complete our bathroom.  I plan on repainting his room and some of his furniture as well as replacing his over head light.

So, once the weather warms up, let the spray painting begin!

Hope you all have a nice weekend planned.  Will you be watching the Superbowl?

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly ~

  1. That is the perfect spot for that piece of furniture! We don't usually watch football but we do watch the superbowl...mostly for the commercials.

  9. How nice that you were able to use the bookcase in there! I love those canvas bags too. Hopefully your weather will cooperate so you can finish working on the shower soon. I'm not sure if we'll watch the super bowl or not. I guess if there's nothing else on, we'll probably watch, at least for the commercials if nothing else. :)

  10. Definitely spray paint outside...and no wind. Windy conditions make spray painting a huge mess. Love where you relocated the "new" cabinet

  11. Looks great in your kitchen. Love the baskets and canvas bags.

But best of all I like what you did on top as it gave me an idea to use something I have, and would never have thought to put it on top of a shelf...

    Thanks...you inspire me.

And the stenciled bins are so cute. I'll be watching, but mostly for the commercials and the half time show. Have a good weekend!

We will watch the super bowl. I really don't care for football except for the Buckeyes but I lie the commercials. I'm sure I will be doing something while watching. I think we will probably snowed in when it comes on. It's not looking good for the week-end.

  25. That looks like just what I need in my kitchen! I think I would use wire baskets on the bottom to hold onions and potatoes, but other than that- you are reading my mind! Love the stenciling, too. Can't wait to see what comes next in the bathroom.

  26. Looks pretty and useful, too. My husband and I looked at a house yesterday with brass trim on the shower door. We're not buying the house, but I immediately thought of you. Good to know that can be fixed! Hope you're having a good weekend. I spent yesterday painting, too!

  29. I'm just now getting a chance to catch up on blogs and I see you've been busy working on your bathroom! It's a mess while you're doing it, but so worth it in the end. And you've even got an extra storage shelf in your kitchen out of the deal! I can't wait to see the room when you're done!

  31. The white cabinet looks pretty in its new home. For what it's worth -- we also removed that metal shower enclosure from ours. We now use a show curtain. I am much happier with it because I hated cleaning that glass!
