Hello everyone!
Those of you who follow my blog regularly know by now that I change things around my home often. So, it should be no surprise that sometimes, I even change things around right after I've changed things around!
Last week, I thought I was going to use some red accents in my family room. But, after more consideration and trial and error, I felt more comfortable with adding blue instead. So, my sofa has some pretty blue pillows that give it some color and still flow with the rest of the house well.
I placed my extra large dough bowl on the coffee table and filled it with some old books without the covers.
I brought back my blue hydrangeas, but this time I split them up into pitchers for the mantel.
My reproduction German grain sack style pillows went from the sofa to the chairs.
I added some blue striped grain sacks to the little bench beside the chair too.
And I added one to the coffee table as well.
So, for now. I'm happy with this color scheme. But, we all know that this could change again at any time! It's fun to play around with colors against a neutral background. I'm still toying around with the idea of using some red accents somewhere though. Maybe my bedroom? I have white, black and grey in there. So, I'll let you know what I end up doing.
Hope you all are having a nice Monday. It is beautiful here! I can't believe how different the weather is compared to last week.
Thanks for stopping by.

LOVE that dough bowl Kelly...love the touches of blue too!
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteI think the "blue" touches you added looks so much more like "Spring". I tend to use more navy during the summer and love pairing it with green or orange.
BTW...I have always admired your French display cabinet in the corner of your family room and I am looking for something similar? Can you tell me where you bought yours?
I do the same thing. I love red but the blue suits you. Your family room looks so cozy. I love the grain sacks.
ReplyDeleteLooks GREAT, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing I love about a neutral palette...you can add any color accents you want for a fresh look! Love your blue!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty in blue Kelly. That is the great part about a neutral palette. It can be changed up with pops of color at any time. I am like you and love change so the neutrals are great for that. Your room looks so pretty. Great job.

I am definitely a fan of blue in small or large doses!!

I love the blue and white, Kelly. I change things, too. I'll tell you, that dough bowl was a really good find. It is perfect on your coffee table.
ReplyDeleteI now have all my red accents downstairs in our media room and think it will most likely stay there now. I am back to blue and cream and tan (for a while anyway) lol
Have a wonderful week- xo Diana
Love the touches of blue too! Your dough bowl is sooooo amazing :o)

ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in a while so I see changes have been made! Your room looks great- the little bit of blue is nice! That's quite a dough bowl! I'll have to look back and see the red you tried. I thought I was the one who changed things the most but you have me beat on that one!! Hope the winter wasn't too rough there. Liz
ReplyDeleteLove the blues and I keep forgetting to snatch that horse when I'm at your house.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I loved the red, but blue is my favorite. So I'm usually partial to blue. What a creative idea to use the old books without covers. It adds so much textural interest to your space. Everything pulled together looks calm and beautiful! Love it!

ReplyDeletePretty blue touches Kelly. I have am luv affair with red... an on again off again thing :)It pops up all the time.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks so inviting.
Hi, what a lovely room. I'm currently in the process of changing over from all the green I have in the kitchen, family room to blue. I have recently lost my eldest son to cancer and I'm looking for calm and relaxing, so I'm thinking soft greys, blues and taupes. These are the colours drawing me in so there must be a reason. Best wishes Wendy
ReplyDeleteKelly, you always make it comfy no matter what you do..
ReplyDeleteI love your Family room. Everything looks so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThe blue accents look very soothing! I envy your neutral backdrop! I love red, so I think it sounds like a great idea to add it to your bedroom!
ReplyDeleteI love the red but the blue is more springy and looks nice!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter what color you use, it is always gorgeous at your home.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and serene! Love that dough bowl :).

My husband used to complain that he didn't know if he was in the right house..
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, Love the blue accents with the gray. it does flow ice with the rest of your house. just wondering... Did you get rid of the big architectural columns that you used to have? I wanted to show my husband. We just bought two chippy 7 ft. Columns. One will go in my dining room and the other one in my our antique booth.
ReplyDeleteKelly...I liked the red touchs, but I really love your touches of blue. Your dough bowl is awesome!!

I'd love to have all neutrals and be able to change things up at will, Kelly! Your conversation area looks so cozy whether you have blue or red accents.
ReplyDeleteReally, you can never go wrong with blue!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at Best of the Weekend, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I can so relate to changing things often. I'm a stay at home mom and staying at home means I'm always looking at the home... and tweaking constantly. I try to add color and then can't live with it. I can only take it in small amounts. The blues are really pretty. Easy on the eye. I think I saw that you put blue in your bedroom. I'm catching up today. Happy Tuesday!
