How is your week going so far?  It's another hot and humid one here in GA.  I actually set up a fan on my front porch so I could sit out there in this heat!  It seems to help.  Summer break is winding down and school will start back next week.  Whaaaaat?  It seems every year that school starts back earlier and earlier!  I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to Fall.  Cooler temps, college football, and Fall festivals can't get here fast enough.  But, we haven't even gotten through August yet so that will have to wait a while. 

 

In the meantime, I'm ready to see what all of you have to share this week!  Amanda from Dixie Delights is your host this week.

 

If At First You Don't Succeed.........

Hello everyone!

You may recall. last month, that I tried my hand at growing succulents.  I thought they would be a cinch since they don't need much care.  Also, my confidence was high since I was able to grow orchids and most people have trouble with those.  But, it was not meant to be.  I may have over watered them because the soil kept looking so dry.  Or maybe they didn't get enough sunlight since I didn't have them close to a window.  But whatever the cause, I gave up on them.  

Here they were in their glory.  (May they rest in peace now.)

You may recall that I moved my blue painted chest of drawers out of the foyer and into my sitting room.  I just realized that I haven't share that with you yet.  I made a few changes in here along with moving that piece, so here is how it looks today.

Painted Dresser

Hello everyone!

I hope you're having a good Monday so far.  It is just too hot here in GA to go outside and do anything! So, I've been staying inside with the air conditioning.  How about you? Is the summer weather nice or unbearable where you live?  

Since it has been unbearable outside here, I took advantage of being inside and painted the dresser in my guest bedroom this weekend.  I'm so glad to have this project done because it was so tedious!  

A Charming Chalk Paint Store

Hello everyone!

Recently, I went to the cutest store to buy some Annie Sloan chalk paint.  This paint is only sold at certain stores, and luckily this store is very close to my house!  It's called Brushstrokes by Maryanne. 

I was completely smitten with it, as soon as I walked in, because of the attention to detail that it was given. 

There was this charming dining table and chairs (painted in chalk paint) for sale.  And check out that industrial style lighting and gorgeous settee!

With summer upon us I really don't work on inside projects...I'm enjoying my kids being home...they grow up to fast!!

Our oldest will be going off to college in a few years :( 

and our schedules are so busy when schools in so we really enjoy family time over the summer... Projects can wait till September when they go back to school!

Right before school let out for summer break we did complete an outdoor project and we couldn't be happier with how it all came out!

My (almost complete) Guest Room Reveal

Hello everyone!

How is your Monday going so far?  It is going okay here.  I've been battling a problem with recurring canker sores on my tongue lately.  It's been going on for several months and it is believed that it may be linked to my inflammatory issues.  Ugh!  Anyone else have this problem?  It is very new to me and NOT fun!  

But, on a brighter note, I have been working on my guest room that will primarily be used for my oldest son if he ever wants to sleep over.  At first, I didn't change it up very much.  I think it was too difficult to give it a new look because I still wanted a reminder of my son in that room.  But now that I've had some time to adjust to him moving out, I'm ready for a new look in there.  I used items that I already had so no expense was made.  Shocking!

European Style Clock

Hello everyone!

Did you all have a nice holiday weekend?  It was relatively quiet at our house.  My husband had to work (and my older son) so we didn't do a whole lot here.  It rained off and on as well, but did let up just enough for fireworks.  Now that fireworks are legal in GA, there were a lot more being set off!  You could definitely tell that everyone had been shopping for them this weekend.

I wanted to share a new clock that I recently received.  I found it at Antique Farmhouse.  

I decided to hang it above my fireplace.  I think everything new ends up over the mantel so I can enjoy it more.
