Hello everyone!
I have a powder room on the first floor that gets a lot of use. All of the other bathrooms are upstairs. However, there's only one problem. It doesn't get any natural light. So, it's often dark. I painted it in a light grey (called Wickham Grey from Benjamin Moore) a few years ago. But, just recently decided to bring a pop of color into the room by adding some yellow flowers and a patterned rug.
Most of the room is white, so bringing in some yellow gives it a feeling of sunlight.
I've added lots of mirrors too. That helps make the space feel larger.
Since the room is so small, it's very difficult to get good pictures of it. That would explain why I rarely share it! But, it is a very necessary room on this level! I'm grateful to have it.
Do you have any tips on adding "light" to your windowless rooms?
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!
~ Kelly ~
The yellow really does brighten it up! My kids' bathroom is windowless and I always feel frustrated with that room. You did a great job with yours and I like that extra mirror too!

The pops of yellow and the mirrors really do brighten it up.
ReplyDeleteWonderful yellow accents!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute room Kelly.
ReplyDeletePowder rooms rarely have windows it seems. I guess if any room can be without it should be them. Usually one is 'in and out' quickly. ;)
I think bringing in yellow accents is like bringing in sunshine! Your bathroom is charming, and the mirror is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat huge mirror was a great idea especially since it's oriented towards the door. It will bring more light in. I love the light gray and yellow accents. We have a bathroom just like yours that's a dark hole. My wall doesn't face the door though...what to do??
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen your powder room before. I love the colors. I've been thinking of re-doing our guest bath in yellow and grey. Where did you find that pretty rug? I like your use of mirrors too. Very smart!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow does seem to add some sunshine to the room. The gray is pretty too without being too dark.
ReplyDeleteI have a small bathroom with no windows..It has an outside wall so I had a long narrow window put in over the shower..
ReplyDeleteI do like the yellow in there. It makes it feel 'sunny' and bright. I have always used mirrors to reflect light into the room and I see you have a nice one in there. We, too, had a long, narrow window put in ours as it was on an outside wall. Love it just as it is through there, Kelly. I think it is cute! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYour yellow, lighter paint color and mirrors do seem to help. I have a full bath that serves as my powder room and it has no natural light, either....yes. Dark and never on my blog. You've done a great job of making your room look very nice. I don't think I'm ready to try a change yet. I'm not a good changer.....:(
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
The gray and yellow combination is very contemporary looking. And brightens up the room. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteLots of lights and mirrors! You did a nice job lightening up a dark space
ReplyDeleteI love the touches of yellow.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow...and it perks up your bathroom nicely! Sheila
ReplyDeleteKeeping it light and simple seems to make a room appear lighter and brighter.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the mirrors.
The yellow accents really perk it up. Great choice!

The yellow flowers and rug did the trick! I have one bathroom on the first floor that doesn't get any light either. However, the door is opposite some sliding glass doors, so a mirror brings in some natural light. Pretty mirrors in your powder room!
