Hello everyone!
My post title sounds like a new blog name doesn't it? Well it isn't. I just realized how I'm using two different nature elements in my home that contrast yet coordinate well together too.
I recently added some faux lilacs to my fireplace mantel.
I love how the color purple plays off the neutral colors of grey, white and black in the room.
They also play off the feminine scrolls in the mirror frame.
On the contrast, I have an old aged concrete urn on my coffee table that I decided to fill with miscellaneous antler sheds.
In an odd sort of way, they almost look beachy. They remind me of driftwood with the curves and soft worn beige color.
They, in turn, play off the worn wooden pedestal that the urn sits on.
So, mixed with the whites and creams on the sofas, the lilacs and antlers bring a summery feel to the room.
My son's last day of middle school is this Friday! I can't believe he will be in high school next year. So, things should start slowing down around here with the new summer schedule. I can honestly tell you that I won't miss using the alarm clock and making him lunches for school every morning.
Hope to see you Wednesday night for the Share Your Style party!

The lilacs are so pretty with your deep gray paint, Kelly. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Kelly! Love the antlers in the fabulous urn.
ReplyDeleteThe lilacs are very pretty with the gray. My grandson graduates from Kindergarten tomorrow...he is very excited. They are having a picnic in the park tomorrow.

I love the lilacs on your mantel. Your colors and textures work very well together.
ReplyDeleteI would love what you could do changing things around at my house. I tend to keep things in the same place.
I'm crazy about your wooden pedestal.
I love how you combined the color of the lilacs with the texture of the antlers. And the mirror is lovely. You have a way of putting it all together so your eye travels around the room to take it all in.
ReplyDeleteThose lilacs are such a pretty color and I love the wooden pedestal.
ReplyDeleteYour antlers in the weathered urn are such a creative touch, Kelly. And the pop of purple is lovely for summertime. The students here don't get out until mid June and both my kiddos are signed up for summer school programs that starts at the crack of dawn or even earlier! xo
ReplyDeleteThe lilacs really pop against your mantel. So pretty! You're lucky to have so many antler sheds! I don't see them very often. They look great in your urn!
ReplyDeleteIs your son nervous for highschool or excited?
That does sound like the name of a blog! Lol! I love your lilacs. They really do look real. You've mastered bringing different elements together in a way that always works. I agree about the antler sheds...they do look kind of beachy and that works so well for summer too!
ReplyDeleteThe lilacs add a soft and light touch to your mantel...so pretty! Hope you enjoy a more relaxing summer.
