Hello everyone!
For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you've probably already seen this wall. We still need to add the base board to the bottom, but otherwise it's done. So, when you see the unpainted part at the very bottom, don't gasp!
We only did the back wall of this room. It makes an impact since it's not a very large room. It is also open to the family room and foyer. So, it's nice that it can be seen from other areas of the house.
I moved some furniture around in here too. The antique chest of drawers was once between the windows (where the clock is now). And, the clock was once in the foyer.
I was hoping that my husband didn't think it was TOO much work to plank this wall so I could get our kitchen done. But, I'm afraid that won't happen unless he either changes his mind or we hire it out. The kitchen would be a major undertaking. It took us all weekend to get this one wall done!
But, I'm fine if that doesn't happen. I'm just happy to have this wall done. It's in a prominent place where it can be enjoyed for many years.
So, do you have any planked walls in your house? Was it a major undertaking or not too stressful?
Thanks for stopping by.
~ Kelly ~
This is soo gorgeous Kelly! Your planked wall turned out so great, and I love all of the blues and grays in here. I would love to add some planks under the chair rail in our kitchen. But since the kitchen could use quite a few tweaks, we'll most likely wait until we can do it all together. Have a great weekend! xo Sally
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Kelly! I know you'll enjoy decorating in front of it...daily lol! Y'all did a great job!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look and must see it in person! Maybe he will change his mind later.
ReplyDeleteLove your planked wall, Kelly. It really adds a nice texture to your already beautiful room. Great focal point too.

The wall is amazing. It is so much better than the faux wallpaper being used these days. Chip & Joanna inspired lots of folks to do this. Yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely worth all the work! It looks great. Even better is that you can enjoy it from different parts of your home.
ReplyDeleteIt looks even better than I thought it would!

you should do what your sister did in one of her bedrooms in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, I LOVE the wall! It really looks amazing! The light blue pieces make it look so lovely. Perfect! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the planked wall very much. I have been thinking for a while that I would like to do that on the one wall of my bedroom. But I read a blog the other day that showed a method of getting the planked look with a type of thinner wood than an actual plank. After it's painted it looks the same as if you had used the thicker planks. I am trying to remember whose blog it was. I looked it up: it was Sarah on her blog, Thrifty Decor Chick. She calls it "shiplap". Don't know if it would give you the look you want for your kitchen or not but I believe it would be less expensive. Her post about this was on August 3rd if you are interested in checking it out.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Kelly!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the plank wall look. I think it looks amazing and it blends in so well. I bet it was quite a job.
ReplyDeleteLove it.!! I'm wanting to do some in our master bedroom on the wall where our bed is.

The wall looks fantastic, Kelly! Joanna and Chip would be very proud! It really changes the personality of your room. I love the look of a planked wall, but it just doesn't fit in with my decor :( Maybe someday I'll re-do everything, and go for a farmhouse look!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing. I really want to do a wall in our house. I won't tell Bill that it was a lot of work. It looks gorgeous and adds such texture.
