Hello everyone!
I just realized that I haven't shared with you all of the renovation progress we have made in our bathroom yet! It has been going on for 7 days now. We hired a good friend and former neighbor to do the work since this is how he makes a living. He has already done some work for us in the past too.
We recently had granite counters and under mount sinks installed. Then we replaced our unframed mirrors with framed ones. We also replaced a hanging light fixture with a petite french style chandelier. But we still weren't satisfied with the results. It was like putting lipstick on a pig. Ha! So, we bought new flooring materials and tile for the shower and bead board for the tub surround. Now, the work has begun to replace all of that.
It all started out like this.
Then, demolition began.
After that got done and cleaned up, the new flooring went in.
We chose porcelain wood look tiles in a color called Birch Forest. We used a chocolate colored grout.
Then the cement board backing went in the shower to prepare for the tile.
Niches were built for the soap and shampoo bottles too.
Then the subway tile went up.
And next the floor in the shower. We chose small hexagonal tiles for it. We used charcoal colored grout in the shower.
So far, this is as far as we've gotten. Work continues today and this week.
We have a plumber coming out to replace the tub faucet on Wednesday. It has to be soldered due to the copper piping under the tub. Then the new tub surround will go up.
Whew! It's a been a long 7 days already. After this bathroom is done, work will begin on our hall bath to replace the vinyl flooring with ceramic tile. That shouldn't take too long since it's a small bathroom and we're only having the floor redone.
I hope to be able to show some pretty pictures soon! Tired of the construction pics now.
Thanks for stopping by.

Y'all sure have been busy remodeling! It's looking great and you KNOW I love that flooring. :) It's so nice that you have a friend that can do the work. Hopefully you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It'll all be done soon and you can sit back and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking like good progress is being made. I know you will love it when it is done. I love subway tile and that is what I aim to have in the next house we do. Soon it will be done and you will forget about all the 'mess' to get there. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYour flooring is beautiful and the granite countertops are really pretty. Can't wait to see it all when it's done. We need to replace the tile in our shower and I'm not looking forward to the mess that will be.
ReplyDeletewow Kelly, I thought it looked great before, but that wood-look tile is amazing. I'm pinning these flooring pics. I've had white tile before and it showed every little thing, and was impossible to keep clean. great choices!
