"Shut the front door!"

I just had to use that title for today's post!  You see, the paint project that I was working on was for the front door!  I will first show you a "before" picture.

BEFORE

There was nothing wrong with my front door.  In fact, I painted it brown not that long ago.  However, I decided that I wanted to lighten things up a bit in the foyer.  So I decided to paint the front door this color instead.

AFTER

I think it makes it look more classic this way.  It started off as a stained front door.  It still is on the outside though.

So come on in and let me show you around the foyer.  You can set your things on this bench.

This is the view from the front door looking into the other rooms.

I have extra seating in here too.

And if you can't stay long, there are plenty of clocks to tell you what time it is!

I have a thing for clocks.  I have them everywhere.  I guess I shouldn't tell many people that because then I have no excuse to be late.

What?  You have to go now?  But I was just getting started!  Well, ok then.  Let me show you out.

I'm so glad you could come by for a visit.

Do you hear something?  Oh yeah!  I almost forgot to tell you.

The bushes are now being pruned.  My gardener husband is busy at work trying to tame these wild bushes of ours!

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some clippings to pick up.  Hopefully, I'll be able to share the rest of the yard clean-up with you soon.

The white does brigten things up! I have a thing for clocks as well and also with timers. They make great decorative elements no matter where they are in a room. I love your style!

Love the door white, it goes perfectly in the foyer. You can send your gardener this way LOL...he looks like he is enjoying it. Does he know he is being featured too? At first my husband did not care for the feature on my blog, now he is used to it. In fact he now tells me to get my camera ready LOL!

I like it white better too, it is more of a classic look and brings out the staircase. I am looking for a nice bamboo or natural wicker walking stick container for my collection that seems to be growing. Love that dog portrait too!

You are definitely a busy painting gal too. The white does go better and I love all those clocks. Just tell people they are merely a suggestion of the time and not the right time!

Kelly, I like the door and sidelights so much better white. It ties in with the white on your stairs. I really like the rug inside the door. I'm looking for something not too thick to replace my sea grass one for fall/winter. Your is really nice.

Oh yes, good choice going with the white. I changed out my front door last fall from a dark stain to white...wow what a difference. It just brightens up everything. I'm enjoying all your photos...of course, your sister, Kim, got us hooked by peeking in your home from time to time. I bet you two are a blast when you get together!!

Kelly I think painting the door white was a great idea..it makes the whole area feel bright and airy. You have so many great pieces in that space. I love the stand up clock and the large wall clock. I really like your column too. It all comes together so well!
