Lilacs & Swedish Style

Hello everyone!

Remember when I said I wanted some lilacs?  Since I live in an area that can't grow the real thing, I decided to go and buy some fake ones!  Beggars can't be choosers ya know.  So here they are in all there purple glory.

I secretly like that they're fake, because now I don't have to worry about them dying.  Ha!  Because we all know that live flowers don't last forever.  I just wish they would smell like the real thing though.

See, they add a touch of color to my otherwise neutral kitchen.  I think they look pretty real.  What do you think?

And because I'm nice......I share!  You can have these, too, if you go to Hobby Lobby.  They're even on sale this week.  Now, all you southern girls can have lilacs too.

I recently received a book on Swedish style that I'm enjoying reading.  Thought I'd share that with you too.

It's called, Living with Light, by Gail Abbott.

It has been around for a couple of years, but it's new to me.  It's a great resource on how to bring the lighter look into your home.  I've been doing that alot lately.

I found this book on Amazon for just a few dollars plus shipping!  Score!  I'm hoping to add more books like this to my library.

Hope you all are having a great week so far.  We are enjoying some pretty weather  with lots of sunshine.  Everything is nice and green after some much needed rain last weekend too.

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Kelly ~

I think fake flowers have come a LONG way! I have 3 white tulips in our upstair bathroom, that I got at Pottery Barn 3-4 years ago. A good dust every once in a while brings them back to life!

I have that book and really like it. Your lilacs look real. You could spray them with lilac spray and then when you walked by it would smell real...

They look pretty good to me, Kelly! I love lilacs, too. I may have to see about putting a bush in. That book looks great. I am pretty slow to getting around to the newer books myself, but I find I get really good deals when I am ready to buy them.

We have lilacs in bloom everywhere in northern MN right now, but still you had me fooled with yours. They look like the real thing!

The first blogs I ever followed were Scandinavian and I fell in love with their bright white everything! I may just have to buy myself a little book present. Thanks for sharing!

Oh you know I am headed to Amazon in ten seconds to get that book~it is a cover shot that I can't resist!! YOur lilacs are realistic, so good for you!! I never even brought any clippings in this year, and I am bummer....life was passing too fast. Thx for the reminders that sometimes we need to not take things for granted, like our lilacs.

They look real, and as someone who just tossed the drooping dropping mess from her counter, less cleanup isn't a bad thing.

I LOVE your faux flowers...they are beautiful. Once, I had a candle (a really good one) that smelled of lilacs and you might find one at....well....Hobby Lobby. :))

Nice looking lilacs, Kelly and the book looks like it has a lot of great ideas.
Back to the lilacs.., Bath and Body Works has a great lilac scented candle called Lilac Blossom...maybe that would work to complete the "illusion", or maybe an air freshener to spray on the blossoms?? :)
