Hello everyone!
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day weekend. I was blessed with lots of love from my kids and husband and wanted to share some pics of some fresh flowers I received.
Look at these beautiful pink lilies! I love how great they smell. They remind me of a wedding that I was in that had these in the bridesmaid bouquets.
I would love to have some like this to plant outside one day!
I placed them on the coffee table where I could enjoy them all the time. There are several more buds yet to open.
As I was shopping for my own mother and MIL, I spotted this orchid. I've never had a live orchid before. I decided to grab it and see if they were as easy to grow as the tag said they were. Any suggestions about keeping orchids alive?
I placed it on my painted secretary. Look at how magnificent the color is! You can't get that with a faux orchid.
I did not edit this picture at all. Now you see why I just HAD to have it! It came with growing directions that said to make sure the bark is dried out completely between watering's. It also said to keep out of direct sunlight. I'll keep you posted as to how it's doing.
I've really enjoyed having fresh flowers in the house! Mine are usually not real. I really wish I could buy lilacs to plant outside, but sadly they do not do well in GA. It is too hot. So, looks like I'll have to buy some fake ones. I see them throughout blog land and am jealous of all of you that can grow them in your own yard! I'll just keep drooling over your pics that you post. Ha!
Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful flowers....that orchid is stunning.
Simply beautiful. I share your love of orchids. Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy!!!!!!
Hi Kelly: Such beautiful lilies and I love the way you have displayed them. Just be careful of getting the orange pollen on anything because it will stain big time. I don't have any of the lilies planted either, but would love them. The aroma is something you never forget. I've seen some very pretty faux lilacs..Hope you are having a Happy Mother's Day.
Hope you are enjoying your Mother's Day! The orchid is so pretty. I never had a orchid but my sister has one and she has had good luck with it.
Happy mother's day Kelly! Your lilies are beautiful. I love the color of both the orchid and the lillies. The orchid looks great in the spot you chose for it. Keep us updated on how it does because I'd like to get a couple live ones. Right now mine are fake but they look real.
Nothing like fresh flowers in the house!
Beautiful flowers, Kelly. Enjoy the rest of your Mother's Day weekend.
Kelly that orchid is stunning and I love the pretty lilies too!
Beautiful Kelly. Happy your family spoiled you.Well deserved.
What pretty lillies and love the orchid. I have been wanting to try having one here, too.
HI Kelly, i love the look or real plants indoors but don't have an indoor green thumb sadly..but I have heard orchids are easy~yours is so pretty, let me know!
What gorgeous flowers- A perfect Mother's Day for you- xo Diana
Very pretty Orchid..and I love the smell of those Lilies..it is heavenly! Hope your orchid does well...I've never had one either.
Hi Kelly - I've had several orchids over the year and have found the easiest way to care for them is to place 2 ice cubes on top of the bark (avoiding the roots if possible) once a week and I have mine on a table in the living just to the side of the window (not direct sunlight). The ice melts slowly so the plant actually gets the benefit of the water and a couple of ice cubes each week is enough water. When I was actually watering, I found I was giving them too much and it was messy because it runs right thru the bark and has to be poured off then. Check out my blog - my current pink orchid is on the header and I've had it for a year or so.
I'm jealous of the lilacs too! I've never had an orchid either so I'm looking forward to seeing how it does. I do think they are stunning. Happy Mother's Day!
Beautiful flowers, Kelly. I love orchids but have had no luck growing them. I think success has to do with just the right light.
What a gorgeous orchid! I love the lilies too - in fact I planted some pink lilies yesterday. My daughter is going to carry a bouquet of different lilies in less than two weeks!
The flowers are lovely! That orchid is amazing!
Wish that I could have lilacs too, as you said, the don't do well in Georgia heat! Fakes will have to do for us!
Yes, the orchids are GORGEOUS. My only advice is don't overwater them (when I went to help Amanda last year after she had Andrew, Evan drowned my beautiful orchid; he was just trying to help!). I wish for lilacs, too, Kelly!! Belated Happy Mother's Day to you!! blessings ~ tanna
So glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day...I love orchids...I have heard a couple of tips of watering...When I have them in a container that I can easily take the "pot" out, I "flush" the pot with running water and let it drain out completely before returning it to the decorative outer pot...if you cannot do it that way, then a couple of ice cubes once a week will do the trick...
i have read that to water orchids....just place one or two (depending on the size)ice cubes/once per week on the soil...easy peasy? You let us know......
Beautiful orchid..I used to lightly mist the soil several times a week..ice cubes work well also..gorgeous flowers..I can't have anything live indoors..My cat eats everything green..
Such gorgeous flowers Kelly :o)
I agree with the other comments on orchid care, and about removing the pollen from the lilies.
Have a great week!

Kelly,
Your orchid looks amazing! I love the vivid colors and how beautiful it is. I have never tried to grow one inside before.
blessings,

What an orchid! I have them in every room. Mine are white. I live by a street that sells them on most corners so can get them for next to nothing. But I think the most important thing in keeping them alive is to water them infrequently. I received a huge one from my best friend as a housewarming gift and it just died......after 2.5 years. I joke that I starve them and they seem to like it.
