What I've Been Up To

Hello Everyone!

Well, it's finally here!  Thanksgiving week is upon us.  I didn't realize how late it was this year.  It's already less than a month till Christmas!  Mercy, it's here fast this year.  I normally NEVER begin decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving because I prefer to enjoy one holiday at a time, but since I wasn't hosting this year and Thanksgiving is late this year, I caved!  I will still wait to put up the tree and decorate the outside of the house afterwards, but I have begun other areas of the house.  I've been able to take my time and enjoy the process without feeling like I'm up against a deadline too, which is nice.

My paper whites are slowly growing and it's fun to see how much taller they are every day.

I've chosen a more rustic country theme to decorate the holidays with this year.

Lots of red and white, greenery and pine cones and even a touch of plaid.

It's really helping to warm up the house with all the unpleasant weather we're having today too.  Are you having cold rainy weather at your house too?

I will start baking some chocolate pies tomorrow and then a sweet potato casserole to take to my nieces house on Thanksgiving.  I'm looking forward to having a good meal and seeing my family.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving (and keep warm)!

~ Kelly ~

I can't wait to see all your Christmas decorations! I'm itching to start pulling out all my decor, but we're hosting Thanksgiving, so I'll try to wait until Friday. Tomorrow is my big baking day. My hubby is off and we're both going to be fighting for oven space since he's baking a couple of pies too. :) Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

I love paperwhitea and usually get them in January on sale...something about the white and the snow!! Love your container!! I have a white amaryllis that is growing by leaps and bounds so I hope it's just perfect for Christmas.

Your decorations look perfect so far! I love plaid and thought about it for my family room which is all white slip covered. Not sure yet. I can't wait to get started but it will be next week at the earliest.

Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friend! :)

XO,
Jane

Like you, I like to take it one holiday at a time. But, man oh man, do I get stressed when my neighbors' houses are already lit up! I haven't even begun to think about Christmas decorating yet. Your decor is looking lovely. I'm liking the rustic look you're going with.

Luckily, we're only dealing with cold weather. My husband and son are driving home from Nashville tomorrow, and I'm hoping it doesn't get too bad for them. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Kelly! Chocolate pie sounds divine :)

I love your red gingham ribbon. Is it printed on burlap? It looks so cute. Thanksgiving is late this year but I will just take it one room at a time. Your stuff is looking great so far.

Kelly...I did the same thing and started decorating, because Thanksgiving is at my oldest daughter's home this year. Plus my show is this Friday thru Sunday and I'm so wore out after the show. I've enjoyed taking breaks from crafting and doing a little decorating.
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
hugs,
Cindy

Love the Christmas touches. I don't like when Thanksgiving is this late. I enjoy both so much that I feel so rushed. Next year in our new home paperwhites are going to happen for sure!! Happy Thanksgiving.

This is the first year I haven't done either paperwhites or an amaryllis. :(
I'm the same way as you about decorating. I didn't even go out of the house today, since it was so cold and windy, but I did do a little decorating. Looking forward to seeing your tree. I really like the red and white gingham ribbon and your rustic things.
