New Color in the Dining Room

Hello everyone!

This week, I've been working on a little project at my house.  While you've been looking at pictures of the home tour I posted, I've been repainting my dining room!

I love the new color so much, and wish I had done it before my photo shoot a few weeks ago.  Do you suppose I could get my dining room re-shot?  LOL!

Here is full room reveal.

Remember, it used to be painted in a beige color, called Decatur Buff.  You can see it here.  Now, it is painted in Grey Owl by Benjamin Moore.

I love how much lighter it is.  But most of all I like how it flows better with the rest of the house now.

Here is a view into my foyer.

I like how the walls just flow together now.  No more jarring beige to make this room look heavy compared to the rest of the house.

I also painted my wall shelf in here.  With the lighter color on the walls, the dark stained wood stood out like a sore thumb.

I love how Swedish this looks now.  I actually dry brushed the color on.  It is same color grey paint that is on several pieces of furniture throughout my house.  It's called Fawn Brindle by Sherwin Williams.  It's a favorite grey color of mine.

You can see, here, how the dry brush technique gives it a worn look.

I love how the grey wicker looks in here too, so I brought the hamper style basket in here and placed it under the shelf unit.

Here, you can see the wall sconce lit up.  It fits right in with these soft colors.

Another grey basket was added to the sideboard.  I like that it's a statement piece with the roman numerals painted on it.

So, now, I believe this is my new favorite room in the house.  It truly captures the Swedish country look that I love so much.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Roswell Woman's Club Home Tour (Part 1)

Hello everyone!

My sister and I went on a home tour last weekend, so I thought I'd share some pics with you so you could join along.  There were two homes on the tour.  Today's post will be for the first home.

Home #1

As you can see it was a beautiful day to tour homes.  These homes were in a very nice neighborhood, called Manor Golf & Country Club in Roswell, GA.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

I loved how these floor vents matched the floor!

Well.............what did you think?  Do you want to see the second house now?  I will share that one next.

Thanks for stopping by!

Enhancing a Bar Stool

Hello everyone!

Last weekend, my sister and I went to an antique show that was in my area.  We had such a good time looking around and being able to get out of the house for some much needed fresh air.  The weather has greatly improved since our last snow storm!

I found this cute little painted stool.

I added the rubber feet since it didn't have anything on it to protect the floors.

But, I also added one more thing.  I had this ruffled stool cover that Ann made me a while back.  So, I took it off the foot stool that it was on, and draped it over this stool instead.

I liked the softness it gave to the stool.  I may actually try to get one custom made for it, though, since this one is a little bit big.

But, in the meantime, I like this just fine.  It matches the chair covers I have in the breakfast area too.

Now, you see where it ended up.  It's in the kitchen.  I must have a thing for stools, because I noticed that I have quite a few!

Hope you are enjoying this weekend.  It will be a busy one for me.  I'm going on a home tour and then we have a birthday celebration to attend.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Pouf That Started It All

Hello everyone!

Warning:  Cute dog sleeping in photos.  May cause a serious distraction.

The other day, while shopping at Target, I found this darling blue and white striped pouf.  I was drawn to it immediately because it reminded me of a grain sack.  I loved it, but thought, "where would I put it?" I decided to grab it anyway because I knew I might regret it later.    Well, as soon as I brought it inside, it went right where it belonged.

I loved it next to the white slip covered chair.  It filled in an empty spot and added a bit of pattern and color.
Here is a better look at it.

But, then the rest of the room looked a little bit off.  So, what else was I to do but start making some subtle changes?  It was the least I could do to make this new pouf feel at home.

So, out came some blue and white pillows.

And of course, I needed some blue and white flowers behind the sofa.

Then I draped one of my vintage blue and white grain sacks over the trunk.

And a blue and white monogrammed tea towel over the back of this chair.

I tried to make the room feel balanced.
I would show you one more chair with blue and white pillows, but my dog decided to take over that one too just before I grabbed my camera.  He's such a stinker!

So, I'll leave you with this shot instead.

We are enjoying a warming trend outside now.  I can't begin to tell you how lovely it feels!  And, I hope for all of you still digging out from under the snow, you'll have a change in the weather soon too.

Thanks for stopping by.
