Stacked Trunks

Hello everyone!

I hope you know by now not to get too comfortable with the way things look in each post that I do.  Because, I have, yet again, moved things around from the way they were in my last home post.

I must explain why I made this change though.  I LOVED using my wicker trunks for a coffee table!  I love the style, the texture and the vintage look.  However.......................practicality was more important.  And using the wicker trunks were not practical for setting a glass on  or propping your feet up (as my family likes to do).  So, I decided to bring back my wooden coffee table.  Now, that left me with a problem of what to do with my trunks!  So, I decided to stack them in the foyer, in place of the chest of drawers that was in there.  I have always loved the look of stacked baskets and trunks.

These trunks are large enough to use in a big space, so using them in foyer was a no-brainer!

I ended up placing an old crate filled with greenery on top to give it some more height and interest.

So, now you must be wondering where the chest of drawers went.  Oh..............you'll see!  This started a big domino effect (which I'm finding is done a lot in blog land).  I will share where it ended up, along with another paint color change done to my coffee table, soon.

Stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly ~

  2. I was just telling another blogger I seem to always have a domino effect going on at my house too! I think it's fun to switch things up. Kind of like playing house. :) I agree with you on the practicality issue. I've had to make some changes too because it just wasn't working out in real life. I'll never forget the time I tried to hide the toaster in a cabinet. My kids let me know right away it was way too much trouble to lug it out every single day to use it. Lol! I love the size of those trunks and they look great in your foyer!

  3. That looks great there! Love the stacked/collected look. You are so good about moving things around. Things tend to live in one place at my house. :)

  12. They look great there! Did you try along the other wall kitty-corner from the stairwell also? Have them along the wall? Just wondering - not sure how long that wall is or whether it is even doable.

Can't wait to watch the rest of your "domino play!"

I understand totally. My husband thinks I am absolutely nuts. LOL.

  20. Form follows function, and if the trunks didn't function well they had to go, but they look fabulous in their new home!

  21. Kelly,
I love the stacked trunks! I would store my pillows in them and coverlets, quilts and throws when I change them out for the various seasons. I have tried using a trunk for my coffee table and unless you put glass on top of them drinks and such rock around. :)

  23. Sometimes practicality does win out over beauty - darn it! However, I love how you stacked them in your foyer. Wicker trunks and baskets add so much texture, I just love them!

  25. Love the stacked baskets ... and I can truly relate to the situation of people wanting to put their feet up on a table that sits in front of the sofa...oh the "function vs. beauty" thing....
