Cane Wingback Chair

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I last posted!  I've been gone on vacation and then came back home to a sick doggie.  I also spent a day helping out my mom now that she's back home from the hospital. I've also been getting my house back in order and getting back in the gym.  Whew!  It feels good to get back to a normal schedule though.

I've been meaning to share this cane wingback chair that I bought from Joss and Main several weeks ago.  I intended for it to go in my family room, but then put it in the sitting room when I saw that the finish was lighter than expected.  But, it eventually made its way to the family room after I had a light bulb moment.  I used some dark wax to darken the finish.  And voila!  I'm happy with it now!

It was originally a blondish colored wood that didn't really appeal to me.  I bought this online so you know how risky that can be!  I was disappointed after seeing how light it was.  After rubbing on some Annie Sloan dark wax, I love it.  I wanted it darker to contrast with all the white in my home and to coordinate with my dark coffee table.

The other cane chair that was here moved into my bedroom.  It was a bit shorter.

I like the touch of wood in this corner to offset all of the white going on in here.

It came with extra cushions but I'm not using them at the moment.  This is called the delilah chair from Joss and Main and it also comes in a grey finish called the meridith chair.  These chairs look almost identical to the Aiden Grey chairs for about one third of the price.  However, I will admit that I like the Aiden Grey one better.  It has the perfect finish and upholstery.  But, if you're looking for one that is more affordable, this is a good one to try!

So lesson to be learned here.............

You don't always get what you're expecting when you order online, but sometimes you can fix it without returning it anyway.

Why order online in the first place?

Because you can zero in on exactly what you're looking for without shopping everywhere in your car.

Hope you all have a great weekend! We will be celebrating my husbands birthday (that was last weekend).  This month of June is busy, busy, busy!

Our June is very busy too. So many summer birthdays around here. :) Happy b-day to your hubby! I love how you used the dark wax to customize the chair to your liking. It looks great and I've always loved that rug. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Kelly,
I got the same chair a few weeks ago as well. I love mine!
I got the gray one. The only thing that bothers me is the seat cushion is so hard! I hope it will soften as it gets used! I have seen others priced at $2500.00 that looks just like ours!
Blessings

I'd be terrified to try and change the finish, but you have a magic touch, Kelly, and it looks beautiful! Hope you had a wonderful vacation. Happy birthday to your husband, and hope your dog is doing better.
