Blue Transferware

Hello everyone!

On a shopping trip to one of my favorite stores recently, I stumbled upon these gorgeous plates.

I was smitten with them for two reasons.  I love transfer ware and I love this particular shade of blue.  It's a light powder blue instead of the darker cobalt blue that I usually see.

I don't have much blue in my house, but I like it in small doses.  So, I decided to purchase two of these (which is all they had).  Want to see how they look in my kitchen?

At first, I had one in here and the other on my mantel, but decided I like the symmetric look of them flanking the stove.

What's even better is what's on the back of the plates.

You see, the store I was shopping at is not an antique store.  These are new plates!  I thought it would say they were made in China or something.  But they're made in England.  Who knew?  Want to know where I found them and how much I paid?

Ta-da!  Not bad huh?  Home Goods came through again!

I'm liking the "English" accent they bring to my kitchen.

Guess I should whip up some shepherd pie or something now.  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Kelly~

I just got two blue ones same size (old) at an estate sale and hung them on the wall in my kitchen... such a "bold" move away from my brown transferware... Funny how we both went "blue" with two plates!!

Your really do have a nice English Country lo0ok going on in your kitchen...I think this is the first time I've seen a full on shot of it...so pretty! I like the lighter blue plates, too. And like you, I have very little blue and white in my home, I'm trying to add more light blue in the living room.

Great find, I just love HomeGoods!

XO,
Jane

Transferware... drool!!! I have been looking for some blue. My grandmother ( maternal) had Blue Willow as her everyday dishes when I was a little kid.
I introduced transferware to my DIL. I have gotten her all worked up . She bought her first set last month, Johnson Bros Heritage Hall, and she also got the red to your blue.. only 2 plates, all they had and she will place them in her kitchen as well.
LUV it Kelly.
Hugs, Gee

I looooove that pattern and the colour! I would have bought up a complete set of 8. I should check our local store. I'm often surprised when I see the same things in stores as posted on blogs from people who live waaaay far away

Oh so pretty! I have one of those plates but I got mine at an antique store. I paid $5. but I knew it was new. When it says dish washer safe, that's a dead giveaway.
I love your kitchen!!

Sorry I've been away for a while.
I chose the best day to visit though, as one who is blue and white obsessed! Your plates look lovely, and I couldn't think of better comfort food than a good old shepherds pie ;o)

I love them, Kelly - but then I think that every room should have a touch of blue. I collect both red and blue transferware and enjoy using it every day.

They are very pretty, Kelly. At first glance of your photo I knew you would like that softer shade of blue -closer to the muted greys and whites you like so much. I love transferware too, and so far only have the darker blue and brown/black.
