Shopping on St. Simons Island

Hello everyone!

I wanted to continue my vacation pics with you and share some great shopping we experienced at one of the nearby islands.  We spent one day at St. Simons Island.  We stopped at the Redfern Village Shopping Center where there were several nice home decor shops.

The first one we visited was called Cachettes.  (Thank you Kim for remembering the name!)

Why who could this be?  My sister, Kim, is overjoyed to see something she likes that she ended up buying in this store!

As soon as I saw these oyster shell trees, I thought of my good blogging friend, Ron, from  Uptown Acorn.  He has a wonderful collection of oyster shell items in his New Orleans home.

As soon as I stepped in this section of the store, I spotted this huge vintage dough bowl.  I've been wanting one that size for a while.  So, I bought it!  I will show you where I'm using it soon.

After we left that store, we went right next door to Violas Market.  Sorry this picture is so blurry.  All of my pics were taken with my iphone so I just snapped and walked the whole way through.  This was a large store with some very unique things.

This beautiful bird cage had live birds in it too.

Cute things for your kitchen.

Some pillows by Sugarboo.

Next door to that store was this cute shop.  However, I don't know the name of it.

Then we drove to another section of the shopping center and found this cute store.  It was brand new.

After shopping, we ate lunch and then traveled to another area of St. Simons.  We found a street with lots of cute shops and restaurants lined up.  We stopped in this store and looked around.  It was packed!

I fell in love with the sofa, chair and ottoman below.

I should've done a better job of keeping up with the names of the stores, but we were doing so much driving and shopping that I forgot to write things down.

I hope you enjoyed our shopping trip!

I'll be back to share some other sights in Savannah next.

My sister is sharing similar pics on her blog today too if you want to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Share Your Style Link Party

Hello everyone!

I hope all of you are managing to stay warm this week.  It has been cold and snowy here in Georgia.
The snow started falling around 3:00 this afternoon and is giving us a pretty view outside.

This is the view from my front porch around 6:00.

Are you all enjoying this new link up party?  I know I am!  I want to thank all of you for stopping by and taking the time to link up your projects and inspiration pics.

Looking like it came out of a magazine layout,
this French Country Mantel from Pamela
at From My Front Porch to Yours has the perfect balance.

I've oogled this Ticking Stripe Ottoman Redo
from Cindy at Beaux Reves, all week!

I'm lovin' this wonderful plate display
 from Shelia from Note Songs;

Rustic and Refined Grain Sack Chair from Susan at Simply Stone Creek,
shows a beautiful alternative to white or gray paint
with this wonderful deep, rich, black accent.

I'm ready for an amazing Spring Wreath DIY
from Ramon at Row House Blog.

And Amy from Ms.Toody Goo Shoes
gave us a yummy and good for you too, snack:

Tybee Island

Hello everyone!

I returned from my trip to Tybee Island last night.  So, today has been filled with the usual laundry and unpacking that must be done after a trip.  I had a great time though.  I went with my mom and sister.  We ate out at restaurants, shopped, and visited the beach.  Of course, we couldn't go swimming since it was only February.  We had to wear coats and scarves when we first got there because it was so cold.  Luckily, it warmed up though during our visit.

This is the cute rental house that we stayed in.

It's from Mermaid Cottages.  You can click on that link and it will tell you more about their rentals.

Here are a few snapshots of the inside. I took these with my iphone so they're a little fuzzy.

This was my room.

The house had several bedrooms and bathrooms but I only got a picture of mine.

We visited the beach before we left too.  The weather ended up being so nice on the day we had to leave.  Isn't that always the case?

This was the view from one of the tables we sat at at a restaurant.

We did some fun shopping on this trip and visited St. Simons Island and Savannah as well.  I'll share those pics with you next.

Hope you're having a good Monday so far.

Thanks for stopping by!

The New Favorite Thing in my Kitchen

Hello everyone!

I think everyone by now watches Fixer Upper on HGTV, right?  I love the farmhouse style that Joanna brings to many of her clients homes including her own.  One of the first things I noticed in her home was this unique wall mounted cup holder.

So, when I found one offered from Decor Steals for much less than she sells it in her store, I jumped at it.

I hung my set of cow milk glasses on it.

It's hanging beside this cabinet (that holds our computer).  It fits perfectly in that spot and is convenient to where we keep the rest of our dishes.

I'm enjoying this new piece and glad that I had a place for it.

I am on a weekend trip with my mom and sister right now.  It's nice to be somewhere that is a little warmer too.  I'll be sure to share pics when I get back.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by.

New House Exterior Color

Hello everyone!

I'm all smiles now that our house been repainted and spiffed up.  It had been years since our house had been painted and lets just say it showed!  We had some things repaired on our house too such as siding near our chimney replaced, and flashing added to keep the rain water from running down the chimney and mildewing.  We had a window frame repaired that was splitting and our front porch floor stained for the first time.  Our back deck got restained as well.  Our front door got restained a darker color and I couldn't be happier. We even had our driveway and walkway cleaned.  It feels like we live in a brand new house now!  We still need to put out fresh pine straw to make the yard look better and plant a few bushes in front of our front porch but other than that, we're done!

Ready to take a look?

It was a very cloudy day when I took these pics, so the lighting is not the best.

This picture shows you more of the color we used.  We used to have a taupe colored house with black shutters.  Now it is a beige color house with olive green shutters.

The white trim used on the porch is a warm white instead of a bright white now.

Here is our darker front door now.  We plan on changing out the door handle to a brushed nickel.  I'm still weeding out all the brass in this house!!

I love our newly stained front porch floor now.  I don't know why we waited so long to do it!

We painted our back french doors and gutters the same color as our shutters too.  I'm liking that change.  They used to be white.  We will also be replacing the light fixture on our back deck.

The house feels so clean now.  No more peeling paint on the front porch, no more mildew on the siding and shutters, no more bare wood where we replaced it and never repainted it, and no more spider webs!  If you ever think you hate your house, just repaint it and you'll fall in love all over again.

Here are the paint and stain colors we used:

Sherwin Williams

Body color:  SW 6143 Basket Beige
Shutter and gutter color:  SW 6152 Superior Bronze
trim color:  SW 6154 Nacre
stain color on floor:  SW 3540 Mountain Ash
stain color on door:  Minwax (don't have name)

I need to contact my painter for the front door stain color.  He used his own stain and didn't leave us the can.

If you are local and are looking for good painters, let me know.  I can give you the name of who did ours.

Don't forget the big link up party is coming soon!  Be sure to link up this Wednesday night at 7:00 EST.

Thanks for stopping by!
