Tour of my Family Room and Sitting Room

Hello everyone!

I mentioned in my last post that I've moved some furniture around in my family room and sitting room.  I have finally gotten some pics to share with you all.  I love the changes.  I can't tell you how long it took for me to figure out how to get it the way I wanted though.  I kept making small changes until I got it just right.

My family room got a few simple changes by moving some chairs across from the sofa.  I love symmetry so this was an easy decision. (Notice my dog is almost in the picture!) I also switched my lamp shades from burlap to white behind the sofa.

The floor clock moved to another area in the house.  That gave me room for this furniture arrangement.

I got a new floor lamp to go beside the chair.

I also removed the top shelf from the armoire and placed some taller accessories in there.

Here is a better view of the two chairs facing the sofa.

Now, the biggest change was in my sitting room.  I moved the secretary to a corner position.  I was just ready for a change in this room.

I really like it here.  I was also able to pull up a chair for it here.

I noticed that the leather on the desk was starting to peel up.  So, I was going to just remove it and paint over it.  But, I kind of liked the look underneath it.  It looked aged and imperfect, so I left it.

In place of where the secretary used to be, I now have this arrangement.

And I've already shared the new darker color of the chest of drawers on the other wall.

So, now you can see my new furniture arrangement.  It's such a fun thing to do that doesn't cost anything and changes the whole look of the room.

I hope that you have a great weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Kelly ~

What a fun change! It looks fresh for Fall and will see you right into the colder winter weather. I always get so much pleasure looking at your home. It just looks serene and calm--something that has been lacking here for the last few months....so I will just imagine sinking down on your sofa with a good cup of coffee (I promise not to spill). Hope you have a wonderful weekend. xo Diana

Great changes Kelly.
It is always fun to redo a room at no cost! :) Getting ready to redo mine as well. I like a fresh(er) look for the cooler seasons.
Happy weekend.

I wish I had the ability to move things around like you do Kelly! It really makes things feel fresh and new, but alas, I will just have to live vicariously through you!

Beautiful changes! I love that you can remove the shelves from your armoire to make room for taller pieces. It's so much fun to move things around. How is Max doing? I've been thinking of him. :)

It looks great Kelly! Sometimes just moving things around makes it feel like a whole new room. I just did that in my living room. Beats going out and buying all new furniture. Love the changes you made. I love the secretary and the hutch in the living room. Both are styed beautifully.

The changes look wonderful. I wished I could move things around, but I have a weird livingroom where there is not much way to change it around.

Hey Kelly! Happy Weekend! Yes, you have been busy and I love your fresh new looks. The secretary is so charming tucked in the corner and I love the distressed finish you exposed. What a fun surprise! And the rest of your home looks just as beautiful and pulled together as ever.

Your home always looks lovely, but I know that sometimes we just need to change things up to refresh the space. Isn't it amazing how much difference new lampshades make to a room? I like your new furniture arrangement. Perfect for visiting with company sitting around your fireplace!

I love the new arrangement. The display in the armor is genius. It's perfect for taller stuff. I wish our living room could take another arrangement but I'm pretty stuck in the placement of the sofa.
Have a wonderful week.

Very pretty! I agree with your sister, it's always great when changes don't cost anything (well the new lamp is a great piece.) I really like the chairs facing the sofa.
