New Sofa and Chair

Hello everyone!

How is your Friday going so far?  I thought I would share my new sofa and chair that just arrived yesterday.  I'm so glad to finally have a custom slip covered sofa to replace my 20+ year old sofa that had a ready made slipcover on it.  It is nice to no longer worry about having such a disheveled looking sofa all the time.

It matches my other sofa that I got a few months back.  This one is extra long though.  It's 93" long!

It's from Mitchell Gold Bob Williams.  It's called the Alexia II sofa.  I like that the slipcovers come off and can be washed and dried right here at home.  No special dry cleaning needed!  I've already washed one of my cushion covers on the other sofa and it cleaned up beautifully.  I usually keep the cushions covered with a cotton window panel though just so I can whisk it off for even easier cleaning!  I have a dog that sheds and sometimes dirties it up.

Here is the chair that replaces the older one that we bought from a friend of ours.  The chair was not in great condition and the slipcover was becoming thread bare.  So, this one is nice and plump and has a great thick white denim slipcover to protect it as well.

Now, I'm not embarrassed to have someone come over and worry about my furniture being uncomfortable or thread bare.  We keep our furniture for a LONG time before we replace it.  And then we make sure to replace it with well made functional pieces.  So, I expect to have these pieces for many many years!  This furniture has a life time warranty too.  So, we don't have to worry about getting it replaced if it suddenly starts falling apart!

I changed up the pillows in here by bringing in a softer yellow and adding some black and white as well.  I like the mix of those colors.  The black helps tone down the brightness of all the yellow.

I also changed up the vignette on the coffee table.  I brought in some wood pieces to bring in some more warmth to the room and coordinate with the stone on the fireplace.

So, that's it for my family room now!  I know these furniture pieces will allow me a lot of flexibility with color choices and, because of their classic lines, won't become dated in years to come.

Now, if I can just get my appliances delivered in my kitchen and the shelves hung in my sons room I will be very happy!  My husband's work schedule has been interfering with getting that done.  (Insert sad face).

Hope that you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly ~

How exciting to have all new furniture in your family room, Kelly! It looks so pulled together, and you'll never tire of classic white that can be changed out so easily with throw pillows. Your black and white pillows add a nice graphic design alongside your pretty yellow pillows. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

Your new pieces of furniture are so pretty, Kelly. Your room looks so inviting. I completely understand about keeping furniture for a long time. It took me several months to decide to recover two chairs in our family room. They didn't need to be recovered, but I was tired of looking at them after 15 years of the same........and before that maybe another ten years in another fabric. These chairs are soooooooo sturdy and don't have a wiggle or creak in them at 50 years!!!! My mom had them before me! I'll have to do a post, I guess, on my elderly furniture.

It all looks beautiful, Kelly. I'm so ready to replace our brown leather sofas, maybe next year sometime. I love how you have the tray on your coffee table styled - so pretty. I really think our hubby's workplaces should understand when we need them home to help with the decorating! : )

It is just beautiful! So bright and light, but it feels warm and cozy, too! We keep our furniture forever, too. I'm in the market for a new sofa. I wish I could talk my husband into a light neutral color, but he really wants a pattern. We'll see...

Very nice Kelly! One thing about a neutral pallet it's easy to change up with a bit of colour from pillows to greenery!
