Other Bedroom Changes

Hello everyone!

Is it Tuesday already?  I had such a busy weekend, so this week is already flying by.  Haven't you noticed when you're busy that time goes faster?

My husband had his big retirement party last Sunday.  It was at his fire station and at least 100 people stopped by to wish him well.  There was lots of homemade BBQ to eat  and lots of hugs and handshakes to go around.  I was with him at the party and it was such a treat to get to see some of the guys he graduated with that I haven't seen in over 20+ years.  These were people that we hung out with and got to know each others families.  They're the ones we took vacations with before we had any kids!  So, it really was like a reunion.  He will go to the station tomorrow morning to officially "sign-off", but he is no longer fighting fire and going on calls.  I'm a bit relieved to know that he's no longer at risk to die in a fire or have a heart attack on the job. Many former retirees stopped by and told him to prepare to start feeling better than he ever has before.  He doesn't know what it's like to sleep on a normal schedule.  Now, it's time to live the second chapter of our life. He will find something else to do that isn't so hard on his body.  This is a change for both of us.

Speaking of sleep..................

I wanted to share the other two bedrooms in our house that I've recently made some changes to.  My guestroom received some changes by adding some new pillows and throws.

I brought in some black and white into this room.  One day, I will have a bigger bed for my guest room, but this is fine for now.

Do you remember my wicker rocking chair?  Well, it ended up in here many months ago.

In my teenage son's room, I bought him some new bedding from H&M.  It's white with subtle black diamonds on it.  It's the perfect neutral to be able to change up pillows on it to add whatever color I choose.  He used to have red plaid bedding.

I added this fun bright yellow pillow to his neutral bedding and it seemed to work perfectly.  Since he's so young I felt he needed a little bit of color.

Be sure to come back here tomorrow night for my weekly Share Your Style party.  I am hosting it this week!

Thanks for stopping by.

Kelly, I am in love with that first bedroom! The colors and that big basket are awesome!

I'd like to remove the red from our downstairs guest room and change it up. May have to make a quick trip to Stein Mart soon. I always find great things there.

Please be sure and mark your calendar for the garden party on April 25th. :)

CONGRATS to your hubby, Kelly- what a feat he has accomplished! I, too, am so glad he's now out of harm's way.....unless you kill him with extra-long Honey-Do lists, haha. ♥

I like the subtle changes in your other bedrooms - lookin so good over there, my friend!

I thought of you today remembering how perfectly you stated that you, too, aren't 100% one kind of style, and you showed perfect examples of why you have many different styles going on in your world of decor. When I look around at our home I feel the same way. I think I will always remember how you said what my head was thinking, and I just didn't know how to put into words. Hugs.

I'm sure he will feel better sleeping on a regular schedule. Sleeping various shifts are hard on people. Congrats to him!

Sounds like he had a wonderful retirement party! How neat to see all those people again. Enjoy the second chapter of your lives!

Congratulations to your husband, Kelly! How nice that he was honored this way. My father in law was a fire captain and I know my MIL was so happy to have him home and safe. He missed so many holidays and celebrations while on duty so it went beyond the normal retirement.

You have a knack for creating beautiful rooms. I'm getting ready to do both guest rooms at the lakehouse. Pinning away! ;-D
