My Son's Bedroom Makeover

Hello everyone!

I'm happy to report that my teenage son's bedroom is finally done!  Unfortunately, I didn't take any "before" pics to show you though.  Bad blogger!  So, I'll just tell you how it looked before and then you can compare it to the pictures.

It started out with light blue walls, red bed frame and dresser, and lots of Legos in bookcases. This was a difficult room to do.  He had a lot of furniture that we needed to use in a small space.  Luckily, he has a twin bed so it didn't take up too much room.

The first thing we did was get rid of the wall of bookcases FILLED with Lego creations!  We gave them to a friend of ours that has a seven year boy.  Then, we painted his walls in a Linen White (from Benjamin Moore).  The chalkboard had to stay where it was because it is painted on the wall with chalkboard paint and a wooden frame was mounted to the wall.  We didn't want to have to remove that since it would be so much work.  So, we worked around it.

I took these pics at night, so unfortunately, you don't see the true wall color here. The last pic will show that though.

He had a wicker dresser in red, that I painted in black.  But, we had to move it inside his closet because there was not enough room for it in the room.

Then I painted his bed frame in black as well.  His bedding is all from H&M.com.

We moved his TV and Xbox One with his new gaming chair (from Christmas) on one side of the room.

I bought some wall shelves from Target to hang on the wall to use in place of the bookcases filled with Legos.  He decided to keep the old ones that his older brother gave him since they were from Star Wars and are no longer sold.

Sorry these pics are not very clear. I took these at night and should've done it by sunlight.

On the other side of his room is his new computer desk and chair.  We will be getting his new computer soon.

This desk is really unique because it's made to hold electronics, games and even has a cup holder!

At the foot of his bed, is his closet and hamper.

I was able to get this picture in the daylight (so you can really see the true wall color better) of his new pendant light over his bed and window treatment.  The window treatment is just a pair of drop cloths hung on curtain rings off a black iron curtain rod.

So, now you know what we've been working on for so long.  This room was cleaned out of all toys and bad paint.  Now, it looks more organized and can be a room he will really use and not just sleep in.

The next thing I have to share with you is something bold I did to my family room!  It was something that I had been thinking about doing for awhile and finally got the nerve up to do it this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Kelly ~

His room looks great Kelly! I love that you kept the chalkboard. The wall color is nice and clean and the bedding is perfect for a boy's room - rustic but still has charm. :) Don't tell him. Great job!

The room looks fantastic! Does he keep his room clean? Neither of my sons have ever mastered that.

This is a great makeover! I love that the desk is specially made for electronics too. I even love the hamper! :) He has such nice bedding (I need to check H&M more often) I know you're glad to get this checked off your list. Now I can't wait to see the change in the family room (and the new appliances too!) So many exciting things going on over there!

It looks great. I especially like the maps on the wall! But I didn't know one ever got too old for Legos. Really? LOL
