Hello everyone!
What a crazy day yesterday was in the news, huh? Since everything is so negative and stressful on the news, I turned it off! And instead, focused on something peaceful and tranquil like my bedroom. This is where serenity can be found. I love having a soft color palette in the bedroom for that reason. I recently changed out my black and white pillows for these softer hues for the summer. A few floral pillow shams were included in the mix.
I relocated my Shabby Chic pillow shams to my bedroom and added the grey stripe pillow with it. I don't like comforters with busy designs, but I do like pillows to bring some pattern into the room. So, that is what I did here.
The result is summery and soft. I think it's a good way to start and end the day!
The black furniture keeps it from being too washed out since I have light colored carpet on the floor. I think some contrast is always good. I like having extra seating in the bedroom too.
I added this grey and white polka dot pillow to my slip covered chair in the corner.
All in all, it's a quiet respite from everything going on in the world right now!
I hope that you have a great weekend.
Thanks for visiting.
~ Kelly ~

That black bed looks very much like the one I left in Texas. Very pretty summery ideas!

Very peaceful, indeed! And peace is such a treasure these days.
Your bedroom looks so serene and beautiful...I love the chandelier!!!! Actually I decided to quit watching the news and reading headlines last week on MSN because I can't handle what a horrible world we live in today. I know ignoring things is not the answer but what is?
Have a great weekend!!!

Your room does look lovely and calm, a refuge from the world.
Your bedroom is so very soothing and a luxurious refuge. I like how you paired the floral pillows with the striped one so it has the mix of feminine and masculine.
Your bedroom looks so serene. The perfect place to escape to in this crazy world.
That is definitely a perfect spot to start and end the day! I love how tall your ceilings are too. That always opens up a space so nicely. Here's to a nice, quiet and peaceful weekend.
Lovely..MAkes me want to take a nap...That bed needs a cat!
I'm a big fan of neutrals in the bedroom, so naturally yours appeals to me. Love your ceilings too Kelly!

This is so pretty and charming Kelly. I love the mix of pillows you put together, the polka dots are so cute. I'm sure those cool colors are nice to come home to when it's so hot out! It's been so very hot here too! Have a lovely weekend. Xo
You are so right about our needing a place of respite, where everything feels clean and fresh and far removed from the insanity going on in the outside world. I think that is the very concept of what we call home, don't you? Your bedroom looks like a beautiful calm safe haven. Enjoy it.
Your bedroom sanctuary looks beautiful and summery Kelly. Nice and soft and peaceful.

This summer bedroom is PERFECTION !! :)
I love your room, Kelly! It's funny, I've been taking out my black and adding grey to my bedroom instead. I have very dark furniture so I've been trying to lighten things up a bit! Your bedroom is a beautiful respite and probably very calming at the end of a busy day! Blessings, Cindy xo
Love your chandelier Kelly! A very pretty, light-filled room.
