Color Decision Change Again!

Hello everyone!

Those of you who follow my blog regularly know by now that I change things around my home often.  So, it should be no surprise that sometimes, I even change things around right after I've changed things around!  

Last week, I thought I was going to use some red accents in my family room.  But, after more consideration and trial and error, I felt more comfortable with adding blue instead.  So, my sofa has some pretty blue pillows that give it some color and still flow with the rest of the house well.

I placed my extra large dough bowl on the coffee table and filled it with some old books without the covers.

I brought back my blue hydrangeas, but this time I split them up into pitchers for the mantel.

My reproduction German grain sack style pillows went from the sofa to the chairs.

I added some blue striped grain sacks to the little bench beside the chair too.

And I added one to the coffee table as well.

So, for now.  I'm happy with this color scheme.  But, we all know that this could change again at any time!  It's fun to play around with colors against a neutral background.  I'm still toying around with the idea of using some red accents somewhere though.  Maybe my bedroom?  I have white, black and grey in there.  So, I'll let you know what I end up doing.

Changes with Color

Hello everyone!

I received something new, that I ordered, and it ended up creating a lot of changes in my home.  It's funny how one little thing can do that!  This is what I received (from Antique Farmhouse).

It's the French style nursery flat hanging on the wall.  I ended up hanging a preserved boxwood wreath on it to add some interest.

On the wall where that is hanging, I used to have my grey chest of drawers. I decided that I wanted the stacked wicker trunks here instead.  So, they moved from the foyer in here.

I'm liking the texture of these in here with all of the white slipcovered furniture.

The grey chest of drawers moved back into the foyer where it once was.

Now, regarding some color changes, I decided to bring in a few pops of red into some rooms.  

I know what you're thinking, but I do like pops of color here and there every now and then.  So, I brought in some with pillows and books.

And I know I just showed you my pretty soft blue hydrangeas in here on the coffee table, but I moved those to my dining room.  I love them in there!  The dough bowl that I just got in St. Simon's, made its way onto the coffee table instead.

I am enjoying these changes right now but I'm not done.  I will share some others with you next week.  

One thing that allows me to make all of these changes is having such a neutral color palette throughout my home.  Grey and white is a great backdrop for punches of color.  

I'm not changing the style either, just adding some pops of red here and there.  I'm liking it and it can easily be removed if and when I tire of it.

Chateau Chic found a pretty vintage tablecloth recently and used it as her inspiration for introducing Spring into her home.  So pretty Mary Alice.

Sarah at Hyacinths for the Soul, says "sheep are wonderful reminders for us to slow down and enjoy the warm Spring sun on our faces".  She shared a very interesting post all about sheep.  When I think of Easter and Spring, not only do I think of bunnies and chicks but sheep too.

I don't know about you but I am always looking for fun ways to decorate my family Easter dinner table.  Zuni, of the blog Chickadee Home Nest, shared her Peter Rabbit Birthday Party.  And I just loved the way she introduced a platter of fresh veggies at the food station.  Spilling out of a big clay flower pot.  Check out all the darling ideas at her party.

Southern Seazons blog has set the table with  the cutest bunnies.  She found the plates at the grocery store of all places.  What a sweet adorable place setting Jody.  Doesn't this just scream welcome Spring?

Blue Hydrangeas

Hello everyone!

Are you feeling "off" since today is the first Monday for daylight savings time?  I know I am.  I prefer the other time change myself.  Getting up while it's still dark just doesn't seem right!  So, some good caffeinated coffee was in high demand this morning.

This past weekend, mother nature blessed us with the most gorgeous weather!  It was sunny and warm.  Too bad it didn't last, but I did manage to capture it in pictures while it lasted.  I recently changed out the flowers on my coffee table to reflect Spring.  Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers.  So, I placed these soft blue ones in a metal basket.  

They are not real but they look pretty good to me!

They add just a hint of color to this mostly grey and white room.

I think they're a great way to transition into Spring.

Final Reveal of Master Bathroom Makeover

Hello everyone!

I'm so happy to finally have our master bathroom finished.  Actually, it isn't 100% finished, but not far off.  The only thing left to do is change out the drain in our tub from brass to oil rubbed bronze.  My husband plans on doing that very soon.  But, I thought you'd like to see it anyway.

My favorite thing is our new frameless shower enclosure.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is!  I will never go back to the old style again.

I ended up turning on the lights since it was cloudy and rainy when I took these pics.

I've shown you most of the bathroom already except a few finishing touches.  I purchased this cute towel rack from Antique Farmhouse.  

And I fell in love with this rustic artwork from Target, so I hung it in here too.

I think it's a great message for starting your day!

I'm thinking about removing the blinds on this window since I don't really use them anymore.  We slide the curtains closed when we need privacy.

In the toilet room, I spray painted this iron work black and hung it on the wall.

We still haven't done anything about the cabinet hinges yet.  For now, we've left them alone.  

Now, that we have the frameless shower enclosure, the shower feels so much bigger and the room, overall, feels larger.

We are so happy with the changes that we made in here.  I thought it might be fun to look back at all we did in this room and share the costs.

It was a tough job picking out my faves, but since I had to narrow it down to just a few here are the links which really caught my eye!

Home is Where the Boat Is  shared this darling potting shed which is being featured in the current issue of Flea Market Gardens Magazine. 

Oh how I long for a potting shed to play around in, and this is the shed I'd certainly love to have! 

Next up is an incredible china hutch transformation by Kris of Junk Chic Cottage. It is literally jaw "droppingly" gorgeous! You simply must stop by to see what this cabinet looked like before Kris performed on it her own special magic!

And who doesn't love incredible flea market finds? This stunning flea market vanity makeover is by D.D.'s Cottage and Design. I adore the soft aqua color with the pretty gold gilding, and she really knocked it out of the park by paring it with a beautiful gold framed mirror and those fabulous pink tulips!

I have always been a huge fan of any recipe which includes shrimp, so when I came across this spicy twist on shrimp scampi by Jas of the blog All That Jas, I totally flipped!

Treasures from my Travels

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share what I bought from St. Simons Island and Savannah.  I found a huge dough bowl in St. Simons Island and a French fruit crate in Savannah.  I used them both in my dining room.  Fitting huh?  

I placed the dough bowl in the center of my table. This bowl is huge!  It's almost 41" long.  

I placed the fruit crate on my side board.

I filled the crate with some fern greenery.

I decided to add some dried lavender bundles to my dough bowl for now.  

I'm sure I will find lots of things I can fill in these items.  I'm loving rustic wood at the moment!  I've been gathering more and more of that for my home. I like how it plays off all of my white.

Later this week I'll finally share my master bathroom reveal.  The frameless shower enclosure has been installed and it is everything we could've ever hoped it would be.  It completely transformed the room and makes the shower feel even larger.
