Authentic German Grain Sack Pillow

Hello everyone!

Not long ago, I was fortunate enough to sell a lot of stuff at a consignment store which allowed me some extra spending money. I chose to buy my first authentic German grain sack pillow with it.  I have been wanting one for a very long time.  I have some reproductions, but I really wanted a REAL one.

Share Your Style Party #15

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Share Your Style this week.  I'm so glad that you decided to join us again.  This week, Ron from The Uptown Acorn is your host.

Hi y'all!

It's my turn again to host this great weekly soiree. I hope you will continue to Share Your Style with us.

I spent the Memorial Weekend in my "happy place", Grand Isle. The unofficial start of summer is here, and I am most excited that my summer will be here in just two days.

This is me and my cousin Monique outside Kajun Kastle at age 7, 40 years ago!!!! Do you like my flowered raft???

Do you have summer plans? This summer I have trips planned to Perdido Key, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs. I cannot wait to share the adventures of Uptown Acorn coming soon....

Thanks to all of you who shared your style with us last week. Here are a few of my favorites:

Southern State of Mind shared her beautiful foyer transformation.

You must see this chair redo from Decor to Adore.

I am a lover of white flowers and silver. Ramon of Rowhouse Blog shared his favorite combination with us.

Meatloaf and Melodrama shared this idea for summer cookies, flip flops. I adore these so much. Brilliant!

Who doesn't love a good summer cocktail? Life In My Empty Nest shared the delicious sounding Simple Cranberry Margarita. Cheers!

A Country Wedding Part Two

Hello everyone!

Here are the rest of the pics from the wedding we went to last weekend.  If you missed part one, it is the post just prior to this one.

We headed downstairs to the reception being held in the barn.  Everything was very rustic!

A Country Wedding Part One

Hello everyone!

My husband and I went to a wedding over the holiday weekend.  I love sharing pics from a wedding because there are always so many great ideas shown.  I'm a romantic at heart too, so I enjoy going to weddings as well.  This wedding was for the daughter of a firefighter friend of my husband.  We have known his family for many years and were so honored to be a part of their big day.  She just graduated college at UGA and her husband recently graduated from Ga Tech!  Hmmmmm........and they actually like each other!  LOL!  For those of you that don't live in GA, those are big football team rivals!  Anyway, they have a wonderful future planned.  They will move to Texas, where the groom has a job lined up as a chemical engineer, and she will be an interior decorator with the degree she just earned.  Pretty exciting huh?

As we approached the venue, Sanctuary Plantation, we followed the sign to the ceremony.

A Summery Bedroom

Hello everyone!

Well, I did it again.  I changed a few things in my bedroom.  The reason?  Well, since my walls are white and my draperies are neutral, and the bedding is white, it's just so darn easy to do!  I could come up with just about any color scheme I wanted to in here and just by changing a few pillows and accessories it wouldn't cost much.  So, that's what I did in my bedroom for the summer.

This time I added some cherry and pink.  I don't want anything fussy just simple cottage style with a summery feel.  I think I got it.

Share Your Style Party #14

Hello everyone!

I hope you're having a good week so far.  I'm really enjoying seeing what everyone links up every week.  There is just so much creativity out there.  This week, Martina with Northern Nesting is your host!

Playing with my New Camera

Hello everyone!

Well, I finally got one!  I have my very first DSLR camera now.  It is so much fun to use but a lot of work trying to learn!  My husband surprised me the other morning with this Nikon D3300 camera.  He bought the kit with it so it included a strap, carrying case, wifi card to download pics to our phones etc.  He even bought me a tripod!  So, needless to say, I have been knee deep in learning how to use this thing!  It's much more complex than my little point and shoot that I had for years.

We've been reading the manual, watching You Tube videos about it, and watching DVD material sent with the camera.  We've been learning new terms like ISO, aperature, effects, exposure compensation etc.

Here are some pics taken with my new camera.
