Grain Sack Love

Hello everyone!

Well, I have officially jumped on the french grain sack band wagon!  I'm in love with my newest treasure.  And I want more, lots more!

I introduce to you my first vintage grain sack now being used as a giant pillow on my sofa............

I love the subtle texture it has and the soft blue color of the stripes.  While out shopping, I discovered so many varieties of these grain sacks that I now know I want to start collecting them.  Does that ever happen to you?  I've always loved them, but never had one in my home before.  I now know it is something that was missing all along.

In an effort to keep things streamlined in my family room, I decided to remove the checked table cloth from my round table next to the sofa.

I painted it this soft shade of blue (which I thought would be more grey)  but it turned out to be a happy accident.  Ha!

I didn't want every piece of furniture to be the exact same color anyway, so this adds a bit of color and interest.

I found this old worn galvanized tub to fill with white flowers on my coffee table too.  I decided to wrap some burlap ribbon around it for interest.

And I changed out the pillows in my white chairs so they wouldn't clash with my grain sack pillow on the sofa.  It should be the star!  Ha!

It seems there is no shortage of  grain sacks around here.  I prefer the blue and white ones though.  I will have to take my time as they are a bit pricey.  But, now I have something to look for!

On another note, I've been watching the news and keeping up with the terrible "super storm" as it has been called.  I hope that everyone in its path has taken shelter and will come out through it safely.  This is history in the making, I hear!

Until next time...........

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Kelly ~

It looks great and I love the tub on the table. Wish you had gone to the fair you would have been in grain sack heaven and all of them at the one vendor were $45.

I love it, Kelly! I'm surprised you don't have a lot of them since they go so well with your pretty room! I really like the way the sun come in. The tub is the perfect piece, nice and rustic. I'm sure you know, but you can find all sorts of grain sack pillows on Etsy, the prices should be really good since there is so much competition. I just wish I could sew!!

Are you out of the way of the big storm there in Georgia? Hope so...I'm really nervous for everyone in the way of it.

XO,
Jane

I've always loved grain sacks. I have been wanting to get one like yours for my sofa as well. I'll probably have to settle for a repro, but your living room updates are beautiful!

Love seeing your home! The galvanized tub is SUCH a great idea! We are going home in the morning and will be there for a whole week!!! I will be pulling a tub out of the back yard and using it inside!

As soon as our stint in Houston is over - which will be next summer! - I am going to start on some furniture refinishing projects. Your home is my inspiration!!

Kelly, it looks wonderful! The whole of your living room is gorgeous, with all the elements I would love to introduce to mine if I could be restrained enough!
They are quite scarce in the UK at a reasonable price - you can pay a lot for them in some places. I love them too and am just in the process of making cushions from a red striped one in readiness for a Xmas Fair - they are so soft to work with.
Thanks for sharing these lovely photos of your beautiful home!

Your room is lovely. I don't have any grain sacks and I have been thinking I need to do something about that. I guess I will have to start looking.

I love grain sacks, too and your pillow. I'd love a table runner and a pillow, but can't make myself pay the price. Love your galvanized bucket on your coffee table, too.
