What is behind those doors?

Hello everyone!

I have something in my kitchen that I haven't shared with you yet. This cabinet was purchased many years ago from Pottery Barn and I painted and distressed it last year.  Do you have any idea what is behind those doors?

Well, let's open it up and see.

Why it's a workstation!  Yep.  That right.  This is where I blog and my husband pays our bills and keeps up with his business.  This is where my 18 yr old writes his homework papers and plays Runescape.  This is also where my 10 yr old watches You Tube videos and plays Runescape as well.

You could say that this is the HUB of our home in the HEART of our home......the kitchen!

I recently reorganized it since the cabinet doors are usually left open. I thought it needed to at least match the surroundings.  So, I found these cute storage boxes at Michaels, on sale, and added some jute webbing for a fun twist on a label.

I added some galvanized numbered pots to hold our pens and pencils and an industrial style desk lamp.

Now, it's both functional AND attractive. We're all enjoying it a bit more now.

Do you have a workstation for your family?

Thanks for stopping by!

What a great piece Kelly and I love it black! My hubby and 2 older kids have laptops and the desktop in our sitting room is where I blog, but I have to share it with my 5 year old daughter LOL!

We have something similar in our sunroom -- but it's not as neat as yours! I do like that it is enclosed and can be "hid away"! I like what you did to your outside! It's a great piece and I like your comment "The hub of the home" in the heart of the home!

Hmmmm.... we have a couple work stations, and two of my middle kids use their lap tops and turn the couch into work stations too. Work stations are over taking my house and none of them are as good looking as yours.

I almost have the same piece in our loft that is my home office. I need to paint mine though, it would look so much lighter and brighter. I just have to figure out the color. I love yours!

Great piece for a family. I had a computer cabinet in my family room when my kids were still here. I thought it was really important to keep them in the middle of things when they were online. My husband and I have laptops now so I was able to give the cabinet away. It wasn't as nice as yours so I was ready for it to go!

What a great workspace, Kelly! It's so nice on it's own; but, what a nice surprise inside!! You have done a great job of accessorizing it! I love it!

The jute webbing is really clever!

What a lovely cabinet. I use the table in our 5th wheel.

Kelly that is the coolest! It looks pretty and functional all in one. Do I spy the little paper clip holder you won on my giveaway? Too cute!

Nice boxes and love the webbing labels. Those boxes are very similar to mine that are on top of my desk armoire.

Hi Kelly: Yes, I have a work station. I pay bills in the little desk in our library, which I showed in the "Library" post and the computer is in a closet in that same room, which I didn't show. I love your cabinet and what's really nice about it is that it isn't in a closet! And your accessories are just right. Thanks, Judy at GoldCountryCottage

HI Kelly, I have followed your sister for a long time and am so happy to follow you now too. No, we don't have a workstaion here. My hubby and I both ahve an office. Actually mine is the guest room and I just have a SMALL computer desk in here, he actually has a whole office:) LOVE your workstaion. Also love how you have organized it. That jute webbing is perfect. I'll be back: I signed up for e-mail notices so I don't miss a post! XO, Pinky

Kelly, love what you did with your cabinet and love that it is in the hub of your home, the kitchen! If I had more room, I woud add my little cabinet that has a drop down desk to my kitchen. I have a laptop and an Ipad so I go all over the house to work. I rarely sit in our cozy little home office. Our home office has a large desk where the desktop computer sits, my cute llittle drop down desk and then a large storage cabinet. The finishes on my cabinet are very similar to yours. It looks like your is black? I love it! But then, I love everything in your home. You truly have the knack for designing interiors. I come her for inspiration all the time!
