Porch Flowers

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a nice Easter weekend.  We have had the most wonderful weather here and decided to take advantage of it.

My husband took me to the nicest plant nursery to pick out flowers for our porch.  I had never been to this particular nursery and, unfortunately, forgot to bring my camera.  I know...."bad blogger"!  I was disappointed that I didn't have it because they had so many pretty things to share with you.  If I ever go there again, I'll be sure to remember my camera!

I wanted a hanging basket to hang off the front porch beside the stairs.  I have a nice hanger there already.  So, I opted for this Bougainvillea plant.  I was going to transplant it into a nicer hanging basket until I realized it had lots of very sharp thorns in it!  So, we just kept it as is.

It will continue to grow and eventually you won't even see the pot that it's in.

Then we found some wave petunias and sweet potato vine to fill the coco basket planters on the porch railing.

All of these plants will spill over the edge of these planters creating a full and colorful basket.  (So I'm told.)

I will be sure to show pics as they get fuller.

I really like the colors of the deep purple and white petunias next to the chartreuse green sweet potato vine.

School starts back tomorrow and life will resume as normal (thank goodness).  It has been a long, but fun week.

Thanks for stopping by!

All beautiful flowers, Kelly. I love Sweet Potato Vine and have had such trouble finding it here the last couple of years. I can't wait to see pictures of these as they flourish over the Spring and Summer months. Blessings to you- xo Diana

I saw those vines yesterday at the nursery with Brooke. Did not know you could do a hanging basket with them. They had them sold with an attached trellis so they will climb. I had potato vine one year and that stuff goes nuts. It will be long in no time.

The sweet potato vine will grow like crazy. I use them all over the place. The petunias take our heat well and when they get leggy snip, them back and they will bloom again. They will look lovely on your expansive porch.

Happy Easter, Kelly! I'm loving all of those wonderful plants of yours!! I love sweet potato vines in my urns! You get a big bang for the buck out of those! I'm trying wave petunias for the first time this year, in my planter boxes. We'll see how long they last...lol!!

They are going to look so pretty when they hang over the baskets, Kelly! I am itching to get some sweet potato vine and other plants myself, but am waiting. Every few days I hear about a "possible freeze warning" for the night and I'd rather not lose anything. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my pansies, but you can bet that I will be at the nursery getting plants as soon as the threat of frost is past!

I love. love. love. the sweet potato vines, Kelly! They are so beautiful in that chartreuse green with your purple and white petunias. I can grow the sweet potato vine great... petunias, I think it is just too hot in the summer for them to do very well here. Look forward to seeing them grow AND the bougainvilla!! Making a beautiful porch! blessings ~ tanna

Your baskets hanging from the railings will fill out in no time.
I cheat when I can and buy hanging baskets loaded with plants and then transplant them into my containers.

Your flowers are lovely I can't wait until May so I can plant in New Jersey.

It looks beautiful, Kelly. I absolutely love your front porch!

The landscapers are here today. Hopefully when they are finished I can do a little more to the porches. As much as we split time between here in the lake, I think I will do less containers this year. A few, that I can transport to use on the deck, then bring back home.
