The Storm is Here!

Hello everyone!

Well, the big ice storm is officially here. But so far, at my house, it isn't too bad.  Our trees are fine and there is a light coating of snow on the ground.  However, the weather is supposed to continue to deteriorate throughout the day, so, we'll see.

This is my back deck.

Also, I wanted to let you all know that my son finally saw a specialist and we have a tentative diagnosis now.  It is believed that he has reactive arthritis.  After reading more about it, we feel certain that is what it is.  The doctor ran some other tests, but we don't have the results back yet.  If you want to know more about it, I included a link for you.  Click HERE.  It can explain it better than me.  He is taking stronger meds now and is on the mend.  This may rear its ugly head again in his future, but is not something he will have to deal with every day of his life like some other forms of arthritis.  We are thankful for that!

So, in the meantime, I am sitting here listening to some freezing rain hit my windows and praying that we don't lose power!

Got my first cup of coffee with me to keep me warm and the news is on to follow this ugly storm.

Hope you all are warm and safe today!

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly~

I'm so glad to hear that you're making headway on a diagnosis. Our younger daughter had health issues that took years of searching before a doctor finally got it right. So I know as a mom how you feel. Take it easy today with this huge storm, snow is one thing but ice is another. Stay warm!

We have more than you. Probably 3 inches. That is sleet hitting not freezing rain. Freezing rain does not make noise it just comes down as rain and freezes on contact. That is what coats everything and causes power outages. That is what we don't want. We are getting heavy sleet and Bailey is barking at it hitting the windows.

Great news that your son is on the mend and won't have this everyday of his life.
Your storm is on the news here so I've been wondering about you, keeping my fingers crossed for your that you don't lose power...that's the pits.

That is wonderful that the doctors seem to know what the problem is for your son and can treat it.

Stay tucked in the house and cozy today.

I really hope your power stays on - that's the main thing, isn't it? Stay warm.

I'm so glad you are already getting info for your son. I ran right over to read the link about reactive arthritis. My mom is having weird symptoms which include pain and swelling in various joints. They are testing her for autoimmune disorders. Such mysteries!

Glad you know what the problem was and now you can treat it.
I hope it warms up for you quickly.
love your coffee table.

so glad your son at least got a tentative diagnosis...I've never heard of that kind of arthritis.

so far we're only getting rain, cold, cold rain. at least the weather reports for later this week and into the weekend and next week sound more spring like and I'm glad b/c we're heading toward the gulf area and I'm ready for this rain/ice to be gone!

Glad they found a way to help Cody feel better. That's good that it's not something he'll have to deal with on a daily basis. I know you're relieved to have him home and on the mend. :) Hoping and praying your power stays on during the storm. I hope they cancelled school for y'all so you don't have to drive in that mess. Stay warm!

Good news about your son's health. Waiting and not knowing is so difficult.
Lots of wind here on our west coast island, but sunshine, too. I hope you don't lose power. You sound ready for the duration.

Kelly, Glad you still have power and that the doctor gave a tentative diagnosis for your son. I'm staying in, too. We have a good bit of snow, and are just hoping we don't lose power or have trees down tonight. Stay warm.

Hi Kelly. Glad you got a little information and a tentative diagnosis for your son. (How old is he?)
I had to smile when I saw your "white" socks...why not for a gal who decorates in white. Isn't a nice cup of coffee comforting. Your's looks like I like mind..just about that much cream.
Sending hugs, and stay warm.

Hope you don't loose power. Glad you are comfy and settled for the night.

Glad you received a diagnosis. I plan to read the link you provided.

Enjoy your family and relax. There is something good about an ice storm.

Stay in and stay warm and hopefully the storm will be over soon. At least where you live it will melt soon. It just keeps getting deeper. Feels like you drive through tunnels to get somewhere.
That illness doesn't sound good. At least it is not an every day ailment but still.
Stay safe.

There is such sweet promise in just knowing WHAT is wrong with someone, isn't there? That fear factor of "what is it" is quieted. Thank God!
I will keep you all in my prayers.

I am sorry you are getting hit with that awful weather, too- xo Diana

Hi Kelly,
I'm glad you've made progress with regards to your son's diagnosis. As a mom with two adult children.. I know how discerning all this is. Getting the correct diagnosis is the first step. The weather.. gosh it's just ridiculous. It's crazy to think that some parts of the country are going to be in drought conditions due to lack of precipitation. If I were you, I'd be feeling a little cabin fever and be getting a little crabby at this point. Stay warm!

I have been trying to leave comments on your blog for the last four days and for some reason I can't! I am trying again today.

Woo Hoo...it worked!! I don't don't what the problem was...very frustrating!
I am so glad to hear that your son is home and getting the medical treatment that he needs. I have been keeping him in my prayers.
Hope it warms up a little where you live. All that snow and ice is scary, especially when you aren't used to driving in it!

p.s. I left a message for you on facebook yesterday, but it occurred to me today it probably went in your other file and you probably haven't even seen it.

Ha ha loved the picture with your feet propped up. I'm so over all of this snow. You can't even go south to escape from it. I am trying to think happy warm thoughts. Flipflop kind of weather.

So glad you've gotten a diagnosis for your son, and that it is something that can be treated. RA is not fun.....I know from personal experience. At least I didn't have it for the first half of my life, but looks like it will be my constant companion for the duration.

Hope you faired well during the storms. Some blogger wrote that there has been snow in 49 of the 50 states. We must be in that small percentage. I was in a tank top and shorts yesterday, planting herbs and cleaning up our patio. I was thinking about all of my friends who are dealing with such a horrid winter and trying not to complain about being hot on our 80 degree day. Y'all will get your revenge this summer when you are enjoying outside life, and we are sequestered inside. Mother Nature just doesn't play fair!

Kelly this winter has been nuts.I thought we were over the snow,I was just informed that on Monday we are expecting several inches.Honestly will this winter ever end?!
