Purple Flowers & Blue Glass

Hello everyone!

With school out and summer weather upon us, I decided to bring some blue glass into my family room for a pop of color.  I know I go back and forth with that.  But, I love the look of blue and white with purple flowers.  So, I first changed up my mantel decor (slightly).  I know I just recently did that, but this is still in keeping with glass jars and flowers moving across the mantel.  This just adds a bit more color.

I chose purple hydrangeas and purple and white lilacs.

Y'all know by now that I use "faux" flowers all the time right?  As much as I love fresh flowers, I would go broke keeping them in my house all the time.  I am careful to look for very realistic looking flowers though.

Next, I used my over sized blue bottle on my coffee table.  I love how it looks when the sun shines through it.

I brought in some more purple lilacs for a clear jar next to the sofa.

And in my kitchen, I made an arrangement for my pitcher on the counter.

I like to have a consistent color scheme when I use flowers.

So, now my house feels ready for summer.  It certainly feels like it outside too!

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly ~

I think you've added just the right amount of color. Your flowers really do look real...would you mind sharing where you buy them? Oh, and I love that miniature wreath hanging from the open cabinetry in your kitchen. :)

Kelly, your changes are really pretty! Your flowers really do look real...you've got some great fauxs! Love the pretty blue jars, too. Just that subtle pop of color really looks great!

Very pretty, Kelly! I think blue is the perfect color for summer. And the purple flowers are perfect!!

I think faux flowers are just fine. I try to make sure mine are seen from a distance...like how you have yours on the mantel. Not so obvious!!;-)

Jane

Perfect! Of course I love color so I'll never object to it. The colors of the flowers play off nicely with the coloring of the mantel and wall colors. I like the blue glass- I recently added a touch of blue just because! Kids around here won't be done with school until the 2nd week of June.

Kelley, there is nothing wrong with changing things out as you see fit. That is what makes your home unique. Love what you did with your mantle.

This is one of my favorite things that you've done, Kelly! I love the color combo, and I would have thought those flowers were real. I love lilacs, but can't have real ones in my house because hubby would sneeze his head off. You've inspired me to look for good faux ones. I think this summer look is so pretty and peaceful! Love it!

I love that over sized blue bottle on the coffee table.

I buy a lot of the flowers for my house at The 99 Cent Store. I buy live plants for 99 Cents and then I plant them in the garden. Of course, it is hit or miss if they have them. I am headed there tomorrow hoping the have little rose bushes - last week they did.

I love how all of your little touches of blue pop against the white!! I feel the same way you do about faux flowers. I really don't like them at all but when you can find ones that look realistic they're definitely worth buying. Yours look wonderful. I found some in Ikea earlier on in the spring and couldn't resist. They even fooled my mother!!! LOL!! : ) Have a beautiful rest of your weekend!! xo
