Master Bedroom Mini Makeover

Hello everyone!

There is a great big smile on my face today! Do you know why?  Because the veil of clouds has lifted and given way to beautiful sunshine here in GA!  Not only that, but it will be sticking around all week long.  I'm looking forward to getting some things done in my basement and garage this weekend and getting my car washed finally.

Since the weather, this past week, was SO awful, I decided to give my bedroom a mini makeover.  Remember when I hung the large old gate above my bed?  Well, that sort of started a domino effect and decided to make a few more changes.  We officially hung the gate up now, so no one has to worry about the gate falling on our heads anymore.

The first thing that changed was my bedding.  I bought this cute ruffled quilt from Target from Simply Shabby Chic.  It was on sale, so I grabbed it!  It will now allow me to have a spare now when the other comforter is being washed.  Having white bedding can cause lots of extra washing.

I also hung my cotton wreath back on the gate too.

The next thing I did was to use drop cloths as draperies in here (just as I've done in other areas of my house).  I like the lighter color and it allows me to be free to use whatever color or pattern I want in here compared to the checked panels that were in here before.

I added the grey bench to the foot of my bed.

Then, I changed up my bedside tables.  One of them included a new lampshade from Target too.  I just love how it looks when the light is on.

Here is the other side.

I changed up the pillows in my chair too.

I'm bringing in more grey in here than the beige I had before.

So, that's it for my mini makeover.  I'm getting anxious to work on the master bathroom in the near future so I can get it to match this room better now.  However, it won't be a mini makeover.  So, it will take some time and money.  We will do it in stages, I think.

Hope you have fun plans for the weekend and are getting some sunshine as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

~ Kelly ~

Way to go! You are so good at moving things around. Your bed looks so pretty. I have that same comforter one one of our beds and love it!

Now I would recommend on a sunny day that you stay where you can see the sunshine. Not in the basement. :)

Looking good Kelly! And hooray that we can rest easy about the gate...that was the first thing I thought of when you did that post: couple suffers severe head injuries while sleeping, lol. Glad you're playing it safe. Love the Target bedding and the shade also. We had awful weather last week, but have hit a warmer stretch (like 28) and it's been glorious. Enjoy your weekend! Jane

I love this mini makeover in the most attention getting admiring way. I see you went with the gate over the bed adding that rustic feel and the cotton wreath delights.
You room has a rich rustic cozy feel to it, while anchoring it with pieces of chippy white adds a bit of a light French farmhouse feel.

You have a room to drift off into dreamy-ness in !!

So glad you got that gate secured to the wall so I don't have to email you traumatic stories from my childhood anymore! lol! :) Your bedroom has always been pretty, but it is at a whole other level now! I just love the look! The bedding, the gate, the color scheme...it is all wonderful!

Kelly...this is simply beautiful! I'm coming over right now to steal that gate. You can throw in the wreath! Oh, I love it. I have that lampshade from Target...actually two, one on my nightstand and one on a side table in the living room. It's perfect for smaller tables. I love the ruffled quilt. I am getting ready for a change up, too.

So glad you have some sun! We got up to 30 today and that's as good as it's been for over 2 weeks. I'd love to get my car washed but there will be a line a mile long! lol!

Happy Weekend! :)

Your new comforter looks so fresh and pretty as does your new lampshade, Kelly! Add some sunshine to the mix and it looks like a totally new room. The sun isn't shining here, but the temps are climbing! Have a great weekend!

Hi Kelly,
Love the grey and whites together. So serene and pretty. The comforter and lampshade from Target are great. We finally got some sunshine today too and tomorrow it is going to hit 40 here which really feels so good to us. I need a car wash too!!!! My poor car looks nasty for this past month with all the snow and dirt and salt. Have a wonderful week end.

Love your mini makeover, Kelly! Love the new bedding and lampshade. I've been wanting to do drop cloth at the windows in our bedroom, too, but I still like my PB drapes. I might do the drop cloth for the warmer months and keep the PB ones as my Fall/Winter drapes. We've got a mini makeover coming up this week - painting the master bedroom and bathroom. We have only painted a couple of areas since we moved in 3 years ago, so it will be nice to freshen things up.

I loved the checked drapes, but the drop cloths make it look airier...more in keeping with the sunshine that you're finally getting, and you're right...they're a bit more versatile. Very pretty comforter too. Lots of texture which I love.

That was more than a mini makeover! Sorta like a mini/maxi makeover ;).

Hi Kelly, we have sunshine here in Virginia too. I've had the flu all week so I haven't really minded all the rain and clouds, I actually prefer it when I'm sick. I love your Simply Shabby Chic bedding!! I have an all white duvet from the same line. The sweet ruffles add so much texture and whimsy to your room. It's a nice contrast from the rustic gate. What a beautiful mix you've created! Enjoy that sunshine!

I love the quilt. What a good idea. I'll have to look for another white one as a spare. They do get so dirty.
I love drop cloth curtains. You will love having it neutral. Your soft gray pillow is so pretty. I can't wait to see your bathroom changes.

That room is gorgeous! I love how the drop cloth curtains add some depth to all the other whites going on - I LOVE white on white! :) And the bedding - LOVE that too! Can I move in?

Your room looks lovely, Kelly. I really like the bed and white dressers as night tables. I have been searching for three drawer dressers to replace our small night tables but the ones I have seen are too big or too expensive. I use white sheets but even though I would love a white bedspread I know I would go crazy with our chocolate lab and teen guys who often end up hanging out in our room. I can't keep the ecru matelasse clean (even with a white sheet on the end of the bed as protection.)
