Hello everyone!
Have you been enjoying 2015 so far? It has been a rainy one here in GA and we woke up to a flood in our basement this morning. OMG! Apparently, a critter of some sort (probably a chipmunk) built a nest or something in our drainage pipe that allows water to drain off the foundation of our house. So it became clogged. As a result, all the water from the rain we've been having seeped into our basement and garage. What a mess! My husband had to use a shop vac to get it up and then mop the area with some bleach and water. We have a dehumidifier running and some fans and plan on getting some Damp X to absorb any more moisture there is. What a mess! Not a very good start to the new year, huh?
However, on the flip side, I have been busy taking down Christmas decorations and making new arrangements around the house. That's always fun!
Here are just a few pics of some of the changes I've made.
Some paper whites now sit in the center of the dining room table.
White hydrangeas in the foyer.
Topiaries on the coffee table.
My wooden horse statue is now on top of the mantel.
Found this cute crochet sweater pillow and added it to this chair.
New arrangement on the chest of drawers.
These are just a few changes I've made. Don't you always change things up a bit after you take holiday decorations down?
I guess the only silver lining to a flooded basement/garage is that it's getting a good cleaning now! Luckily, nothing was damaged either.
I'm trying to stay positive in 2015! Guess I'm getting my first test.
Thanks for stopping by.
~ Kelly ~

How terrible that you had that flood! Glad nothing was damaged. Your winter whites are looking beautiful!
Oh dear, luckily your basement wasn't finished with carpet. Is that a store in your basement? Can I come shopping?
Love how you decorate!
Kelly what a bad start. Poor you.
Glad it did no damage. Love all your new floral aranagements, so pretty.
Rosezeeta.
oh no what a mess...I think word got around with the critters that your basement is the best one in town with tons of treasures to decorate nests with...LOL....My husband would be cussing the entire day if he had to deal with that mess...Have a happy new year Kelly and your house is looking awesome as always!!! xoxoxo
Oh, no. Bad critter!! Yes, good to freshen things up after the Christmas decor comes down. The sun is trying so hard to make an appearance.
Leaking water is always such a mess...so glad nothing was damaged.

Ooooofffff!! Sorry about the flood Kelly. But like you said... it's getting a good cleaning :)
I took down Christmas this weekend as well and had fun freshening up the vignettes.
Here's to a calm rest of January!
Hugs, Gee
Kelly - so sorry about the water issues. Not a good way to start off the new year. However, it is good to have that area all cleaned out. Hoping all goes well from here.

love the fresh new year changes you made. your basement looks like a store :)
Great changes to start off the year. I'm sorry about your basement. Ugh!
Ohhhh Kelly so sorry about the water getting in. Your hubby to the rescue. Glad nothing got ruined. I am loving all your change ups especially the horse on the mantel. OMG that is my fave. Love that gorgeous Horse you got for Christmas. Isn't it funny how a piece like that can really makes us smile and feel good where ever it is. Love that piece. So if you want to keep moving it to my house that would be great lol! Just kidding!!!!! NOPE not really it seriously needs to come to my mantel!!!! Ok now that you got this water thing out of the way you should be on your way to a perfect new year. :)

Awful! And I see a bunch of your decor down there!

Sorry that you had the flood. I hope it is okay now.
Your decorations are beautiful!!
Your paperwhites are gorgeous, Kelly! And water in the basement is no fun to clean up. I thought our squirrels were naughty, but yours need a good scolding!! Last year ours chewed through the wires of our outdoor Christmas lights. I imagine they got a pretty good jolt when they did that! Your changes are looking good!
Too bad about the flood in the basement but yes it could have been worse indeed. I have all the decorations put away, the house tidied mostly but between visiting my dad at the hospital and then settling him in his apartment yesterday, my sisters and I have not had a lot of free time. Today was get ready for back to school and back to work so the pretty stuff will have to wait a bit -boo. Wishing you a great 2015 and thanks for your friendship and encouragement this past year.
Oh wow, the flood is not a good thing. So glad it wasn't any worse than it was. Your new vignettes look wonderful. I love those tiny toparies. So pretty.
Oh no, that stinks. But your basement looks so organized. Good stat to the New Year on the decorating.
Sorry to hear about your flood....that really stinks!!! I'm glad nothing was damaged though and you discovered it quickly before major damage was done. Your new winter arrangements look so pretty too! LOVE your new horse....he looks perfect on your mantle.
Happy New Year!!!

I'm so glad nothing was damaged! A tricky start to the new year. I love all your new wintery things! Everything is so fresh, yet warm and cozy, too. I am always inspired by your decor. Here's to a dry Monday!
What a horrible thing to wake up to in the morning! Funny story about paperwhites-my DIL brought some over in a beautiful container on Christmas Day. Two days later, as our daughter & SIL were collecting all their stuff to leave for their home, my SIL said "I smell urine". As we have a cat and dog & just moved into this new house on 9 Dec., I panicked. After investigation and much talking, turns out it was the paperwhites! I had such a horrible head cold, I couldn't smell a thing but my husband threw those things out immediately. Just telling you, those things can be stinky.
It's all up hill from here baby!!
Kelly...we went thru the same thing about a month ago. Had a blockage in the septic tank somewhere and dirty water came up in our laundry room. What a nasty mess we had...but luckily our laundry room floor is concrete and nothing went into our family room.

Oh no flooding stinks...but I'm glad nothing got damaged! Your changes look so pretty. I worked on getting all our Christmas stuff put away this weekend.
Loving the new look...so clean and crisp. I get ideas from you for my little Tree House apartment. A touch here and there and walla...what a difference. Need to get some paper whites...so lovely.
Oh no, what a bummer about the flood! You are so lucky that nothing got ruined. Love your new look with all of the white flowers and accessories -- winter white! Looks fantastic, Kelly! Happy New Year!
Sorry to hear about the flooding, Kelly. We've had that happen in the past and it was such a pain...glad you didn't have major damage. Your home is looking so lovely!
Isn't it funny how those tests come... just when you make a declaration? It doesn't feel funny but you know what I mean. Thank goodness, no damage! Just looking at your basement reminds me how much my attic needs cleaning and purging! I love your changes Kelly! Everything looks so clean, fresh and always pretty! LOVE your horse on the mantel. Have a good (dry) week friend :)
So sorry to hear about the basement flood..glad that it did not do too much damage but what a thing to have to deal with!...I am loving your fresh look for winter with those gorgeous flowers and topiaries...Here's to it all being smooth sailing for you moving forward!!!
Oh, what a mess! So glad nothing was damaged! You're very lucky! Your home truly is beautiful and I love all the touches of flowers you've added. Your horse statue looks so pretty on the mantel and I love the sweater pillow!
Oh no!
I love how neatly your things are put in the garage. It keeps your decor organized and in good condition. I hope it all dries out soon. xo
I'm so sorry about your flooded basement. Ours has flooded a couple of times from pipe issues and I know it's a nightmare! Your basement looks so organized, good motivation for me. Now for the fun stuff... love your fresh 2015 decor! Your knew horse statue fits right in and the florals and topiaries look beautiful.

Your home looks so light and airy and French chic, Kelly. Elegant yet earthy. The addition of the rustic pieces with the white is absolute perfection. You always know how to create the most amazing vignettes! :) I'm glad that nothing was harmed with your flooding situation. I know that's not a fun thing to have to deal with. But gosh...your basement looks so organized and clean....compared to mine! Time for me to start decluttering! lol
xoxo laurie
Kelly ~ You have such beautiful, rustic containers! I especially love your dining room centerpiece! Sorry to hear about the flooding!
It all looks so fresh and clean!!
That's one great looking basement!!
Oh no ... so sorry! Thankfully, it looks as though you've got under control! I love all of your "new looks" and look forward to seeing more in the new year!
You have the nicest basement Kelly! And I spy a few of your decorations down there.
Thank goodness you don't have carpet and a wet vac and dehumidifier will solve the issues. Inconvenient, but not expensive!
Pretty changes Kelly! Wow that looks like a well organized basement!
Oh man, how you are dried out by now. We had a mess like that once too, it's not fun.
