Rug Pad Review and Foyer

Hello everyone!

I was recently contacted by Rug Pad USA to review one of their rug pads.  Now, I know to most people, that doesn't sound too exciting!  That is probably about as exciting as buying new tires for your car, right?  However, what DID appeal to me was knowing that I would have the opportunity to finally "get it right" with the proper rug pad.  What do I mean by "get it right"?  Well, many of you notice that I don't have a rug in my family room.  I used to though.  That is until I decided to look under it and found that it was sticking to my floors and leaving rubber all over it!  Not pretty!  I pulled up the rug and then had to go to the store and buy some heavy duty adhesive remover in hopes of removing it from my floors and not ruining them further in the process.  After several hours on my hands and knees, I was able to remove the residue.  But, there are still reminders of the damage it caused if you look closely enough on my floor!  THAT is why I gave up on a rug in my family room.  I was a little shy of trying this whole thing again.

So now.............I don't have to worry about that happening as long as I use the proper rug pad.  I have a rug in my foyer that I was using (once again) the wrong rug pad with.

Do you recognize this?  You probably have one just like it.  It's a pvc style rug pad.  It does a fine job of keeping your rug in place, but at what price?

So, now I have the new RUBBER rug pad from Rug Pad USA and I can already tell what a difference it is.

Now, I don't have to worry about this one destroying my floors.

Here is my cotton hand woven rug (that MUST have a rug pad under it).

Now, you may wonder what is the difference between the pvc rug pad and the rubber rug pad that I'm using now.  Why is one better than the other?

Well, the pvc rug pad can't breathe and therefore that is what can cause it to stick to your floors.  It can also discolor them in the process.  If that happens, then your floors are permanently damaged.

The rubber rug pad DOES breathe and therefore does not stick to your floors.  Since it comes directly from a rubber tree, it has low VOC's that won't cause discoloration of your floors.  That makes it Eco friendly too.

The rug pad they sent me is called the Eco-Solid Rug Pad.  Here is the info that came with it.

They have several different types to choose from so you can use the proper pad for your type of flooring.  They also cut it to the proper size for you so it's ready to use upon arrival!

You can go HERE to see the various selections to choose from.

Now, I'm not worried about anything happening to my floors in my foyer.

And I assure you that if I decide to put another rug in my family room, I will be contacting Rug Pad USA for my next rug pad!

(Disclosure:  I was given a rug pad to try out, but all of these opinions are my own.)

I hope all of you have a great Labor Day weekend!

Thanks for stopping by.

Such a pretty foyer! I agree, having the proper rug pad makes all the difference. I had a cheap PVC rug pad once and it permanently discolored my floors. Not fun. Have a safe and fun long weekend!

This is really good to know, Kelly! I think the same thing may have happened to me, once upon a time. And by the way, the foyer, and your stairs, and the view into the other rooms - Beautiful!

I will remember this.

We are working on our kitchen and bathroom now, but eventually I want a rug for the living room and it will definitely need a pad.

Great tidbit, thanks for sharing this product with us! I've ruined many spots on my hardwoods with pad residue. Now I have to keep rugs in place to cover it up! Will have to try this pad! ~Rhonda

Thank you Kelly! This was very informative. I had no idea pads would stick to the floor. I have a large rug in my living room. Now that we have wood floors I've noticed it leaves behind a ton of stuff on the floor. Like the back is flaking off... I want a 12/15 carpet bound around the edges to replace it but I'm not sure where to find it.
I love your foyer Kelly. I always enjoy seeing your beautiful home. Happy Saturday!

I love your foyer too Kelly! First impressions are so important :).

I've had that happen too with rug pads, so this is great to know. Glad you found something that would fit your needs!

Enjoy your weekend!

Your foyer is so pretty, Kelly. We are just starting to re-do the dining room and there has been a large oriental on the floor for about 20 years. I haven't taken it up yet but sure hope we had the right kind of pad under there or we will be in big trouble!..Happy Weekend..Judy

My floors are slightly discolored underneath my rugs in the living room, so when it's time to buy new rugs, I'm going to buy the proper rug liners. Thanks for the info, Kelly!

great information, Kelly. Honestly i didn't know that about the pvc pads, but that makes total sense. My rugs are heavy here at this house, so they don't move around, but I remember having cotton rugs that were so slippery it was like being on a ride at Disneyland!

The rug really goes together with the rest of the room. The off white aesthetic and colour scheme you’ve got going on makes everything look bright and attractive. I also love the contrast between the hardwood flooring and the rug itself. Glad the rug pad worked out! I’ll have to check it out for myself.
